We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittanie Harbick a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brittanie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Yes, I absolutely take vacations! Vacations are important to me for many reasons. Personally, they provide a break from routine and help me recharge and relax. They also provide new experiences and opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally. From a professional standpoint, vacations provide me with opportunities to visit new destinations and gather new content for our show. I typically take a monthly trip, most of them being domestic weekend getaways or road trips, but I also take several 7-10 day international trips per year. Ultimately, I believe taking vacations is an important part of maintaining overall well-being and finding new inspiration and perspectives for everyone and I encourage everyone to use their vacation time.
Brittanie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those that don’t know me, I’m a co-owner and co-host of the Travel Squad Podcast. In 2016, as a nursing school graduation present to myself, I booked a trip to Peru and hiked the 26 mile Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with my husband and friends. That 4 day adventure hiking in the Peruvian Andes sparked a travel bug that propelled us into our travel journey. As our love for travel grew, I continued to plan trips for us, many of them being quick weekend getaways as we all worked full time.
In June 2019, we all traveled to Mexico City together for a friend’s wedding. It was while we were all stuffed in the backseat of a tiny cab the group came up with the idea to start a travel podcast. We had accumulated so much insight on how to travel affordably while working full time, utilizing our PTO effectively, and packing in as much adventure as we could during our trips. We also noticed travel podcasts that existed then didn’t capture the excitement of travel, so we made it our mission to bring entertainment and the excitement of travel to audio format.
After months of extensive research and planning, we launched our podcast on August 15th, 2019. The Travel Squad podcast is a fantastic resource for all travel enthusiasts, with a wide range of episodes covering different aspects of travel. Domestic travel episodes explore hidden gems and must-see destinations across the United States, while international travel episodes transport listeners to exotic and far-flung locations around the world. Travel tips and hacks episodes provide practical advice on everything from booking flights to finding affordable accommodation, while national parks and UNESCO World Heritage Sites episodes offer a deep dive into the natural and cultural wonders of different destinations. We also create listicle episodes which provide a curated list of top attractions and experiences to inspire listeners to plan their next adventure.
In addition to our podcast content, the Travel Squad podcast also offers a range of other services for travel enthusiasts. For those looking to explore new destinations, we have several free travel guides filled with insider tips and recommendations to help make the most out of your trip. For those looking for a more detailed and personalized travel experience, the Travel Squad also offers itineraries for sale. And if you’re looking for some travel-themed merchandise to show off your love for adventure, the Travel Squad has got you covered with a variety of travel merchandise.
Receiving reviews, emails, and messages from our listeners about their successful travels has been an immense source of pride for us. Knowing that we have inspired others to take their first domestic or international trip further fuels our passion for our podcast.
