Brittaney, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.

One thing that makes BLB LUXURY different from your typical tanning salon is that we offer clean vegan product along with custom contouring. Most standard tanning salons, offer tanning beds, or tanning booths are particular services are all custom and hand sprayed to each individual. Every BODY is different so this allows us to customize our formula to the customers desired color. They are looking for along with making sure they have a flawless application every time. The standard normal spray tan from a tanning booth last about 3 to 5 days are formula almost triples that time..

Brittaney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

For starters a little bit about myself I am 34 years old and I grew up in Columbus Ohio. I grew up in a split household and worked three jobs at the age of 16. I’ve always had a workaholic mindset and have always wanted to be the best at anything I was doing. I worked in the car industry for 10 years, enjoying customer service and helping others however, I knew it was not my passion. It wasn’t until we found out that my aunt had cancer that changed my world. We used to lay out in the sun and in tanning beds every day no one ever educated us on the effects of UV rays, and what it does to your body and your skin cells. After losing my aunt to skin cancer, I was determined to research and educate myself on these elements. I started spray tanning as a side hobby, to still provide myself the boost of confidence that I feel when I am tan, but in a more healthier way. My goal was to at least help one person a day From laying in a tanning bed or laying out in the sun for too long. And it became a passion of mine very quickly and then switched over from the corporate world to starting my own business full-time two months later Covid hit and the whole world shut down I felt like this was bad timing. I did not know how I was going to support myself, but I kept faith in God and I knew my aunt was watching over me to help guide the way Fast forward here we are many years later have now relocated to the Tampa Bay area. I have three successful locations and a team of 14 people. I am beyond blessed and thankful BLB LUXURY brought some thing to the Tampa Bay area that was missing and that was a home for skin care And a safe space. We are a no judgment zone and we feel every BODY is beautiful and welcome. Our mission is to make you feel comfortable in your own skin. We offer custom spray, tanning teeth whitening and for red saunas and red light therapy, eyebrow services and permanent make up along with permanent jewelry. we have an amazing after Caroline that has the best ingredients on the market to not only extend the life of your Tan, but it has so many hydrating ingredients that you can use our products, even if you’re not a spray Tanner.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

A time where I had to pivot and business, my career or life has honestly been the last two years I moved to St. Petersburg Florida, a little over three years ago and I relocated for a relationship. I knew that starting my business over from scratch and a new area, where I knew no one was going to be extremely difficult, but I knew I had the resilience and the strength to do so because I believed in myself and my vision. it was extremely hard trying to find a location to offer my services but once I found an amazing human being which I still call my angel to this day her name is Colette, She owns rare body studio. I had said a prayer 24 hours before I met her, that if I did not find a space For my business, I was going to move back home because just days after I relocated to Florida, me and my significant other at the time, got into an extremely large argument, and I felt like I made the biggest mistake of my life moving to Florida. However, this is the exact change and push that I needed to persevere. After meeting Colette, I open my business and August 20 20 and it took about 6 to 8 months to really get traction but once I did, I never took my foot off the gas unfortunately during that time me and my significant other separated, and this took a toll on my personal life, mentally physically, and spiritually , this was a pivoting moment for me. I had no one to lean on and it was sink or swim here we are a year and a half later after the relationship crumbled and I’m swimming.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

So I actually never got a loan for my business or an investor when I moved to Florida my boyfriend at the time helped me get the supplies that I needed to start the business which was a couple thousand dollars. I needed to make sure I had enough supplies and equipment, and I told myself I would take every dollar that I made after paying bills, of course, and put it back into my business. I feel like most people go into a small business with a business plan or an investor or a partner or they get a Loan. I just use my credit cards and every dollar I made from an appointment went right back into buying supplies for my business. I feel like it took a little over a year before things started to become profitable and to this day 80% of what I make goes right back into the business and into my staff to make sure that I continue to provide the best services on the market, a comfortable and inviting environment for our clients, and to take care of my staff because I could not do this without them
