We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Britta Newly a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Britta thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
In September 2019, amidst the upheaval and grief of divorce, I decided to get a tattoo for my birthday. I chose two tattoos, one of which was a small paper crane on my right wrist. At the time, I didn’t know the symbolism behind paper cranes; I just thought it looked nice.
The next day I attended a writing workshop where I was editing someone else’s poetry. A particular line caught my attention: “Paper cranes remind us never to give in to despair.” Intrigued, I immediately researched the symbolism of paper cranes and discovered that they are known as a symbol of healing.
This moment was a turning point for me. As my passion for podcasting and storytelling grew, it became the foundation for my business, Crane Podcasting. I realized that stories are integral to human healing. My greatest ambition with this agency is to uncover and elevate stories that can help others heal, learn, and grow.
At Crane Podcasting, we specialize in creating podcasts for businesses to develop a consistent lead source for their sales funnels. Through this process, I firmly believe that everyone has a story worth sharing, especially in the business world. It is essential to find and tell those stories that can benefit others.
Our mission is to help businesses harness the power of storytelling to connect with their ideal customers on a deeper level. By doing so, we not only drive business success but also contribute to the collective growth of our listeners.
Crane Podcasting is about more than just creating content; it’s about fostering relationships, inspiring change, and promoting healing through the art of storytelling.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of working with clients is being able to simplify the complexity of the podcast making process. Most clients come to us, overwhelmed with a prospect of needing to strategize, brand, create, and produce a podcast. Our proven approach allows them to be a part of the podcast conception process while we operationalize it to make it as “plug-and-play” as possible. Some have remarked that after conception, the most they have to do is show up and have conversations with their ideal clients. The podcast interview process allows them to build powerful relationships that often manifest in future sales.

Have you ever had to pivot?
After working as an artist for most of my 20s I decided I wanted more out of my career. I had spent time trying to make it as a sculptural and conceptual artist, while working in restaurants and various project management side gigs, for the better part of 10 years.
I decided to pivot into corporate America and found a job working in management consulting for one of the largest firms in the world. It was a tempt to hire job, for which I was eventually be hired. While working there was incredibly fulfilling, I could tell that there wasn’t enough creativity in that particular career to fully satisfying me. So, when I was laid off due to the outsourcing of our department to the Philippines I knew I had to pivot into marketing. I was laid off on Valentine’s Day of 2020. Since it was my first Valentine’s Day single in 10 years it felt particularly brutal.
Since I was in the middle of a divorce at the time I had deleted all of my social media profiles, including my LinkedIn. This meant at the time I lost my job I had almost no network. As you remember, March 2020 was when the pandemic hit. So against all odds, starting with zero digital network, I pivoted my career into marketing. The insanity of this pivot didn’t even occurred to me. I just buckled down and did what I had to do. I decided if I was going to pivot into marketing I needed to treat myself like a product and I said to work building at work and selling myself. With hard work, and a whole lot of networking and virtual coffees later I got a job at a marketing agency building out their fractional team.
My journey in marketing agencies since then has led me to my own B2B podcasting agency.
