We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Britney Smith a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Britney, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have been cooking for time now. I started off in the kitchen watching and helping my grandmother at the age of twelve . That’s how I came up with my business name (Nana E’s Kitchen ) and it’s also a way of me paying homage to her . When I first launched my business back in 2019 , I started off with different assorted dessert cups such as ; banana puddings, strawberry cheesecakes and the turtle truffle cake cups . As years have passed I have been expanding by adding entrees and a larger spread of sweat treats . Cooking and baking is something I have always been passionate about ; it’s one of my forms of spreading love .

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience off of social media by consistently promoting and advertising my work . Social media is great tool to help get more customers and engagement. My advice to anyone that’s starting a business would be to have faith , keep posting and working on your business/brand.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I learned in being a business owner is to keep going no matter what life throws at you . It will get better with time .
