We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Britany Sims. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Britany below.
Britany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The meaning behind my brand name Britany Nicole Eleven22 LLC breaks down like this: of course Britany Nicole is my first & middle name which most people know. Eleven22 is actually a date: November 22nd, which was my bestfriend’s birthday. I lost him to suicide two days after my 14th birthday, so of course when I was trying to come up with my brand name I wanted to pay some sort of tribute to him.
Britany, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
So I first officially got into the industry in 2016! I started off straight out of cosmetology school booth renting & the place I was at did not work well for me so after about a year I took a break from the hair world for awhile. Then one new years one of my resolutions was to get back into a salon & see if it was still for me. That’s when I fell back in love with my career choice & I knew I just wanted to keep building . I officially went out on my own in 2021 which was a big step especially after Covid. Owning & building a business has taught me so much about myself. It has shown me that I am capable of anything I want to put my mind too. There are so many little pieces that go on behind the scenes when you are building a business in the beauty industry that I believe a lot of people do not see. I am my own receptionist & content creator. I do all of my ordering, scheduling, cleaning , answering texts/emails/calls. Everything falls on to me & thats not even including being the hairstylist. I absolutely LOVE my job & the work that I do. I specialize in color so being able to transform someone’s hair especially with fun colors is challenging but always fun! Being able to see the outcome of the art I create & seeing my clients fall back in love with their hair is honestly so rewarding. This is one of the things that set me apart in the industry. Not only will I make sure the health of your hair is my top priority but I also make sure that the person sitting in my chair knows how much I care about them. My clients mean the world to me they support me & my dreams, so it is always my goal to make sure they are happy with their hair & know how much I am there for them. I try to make sure to remember the details they tell about their life or any special events that they are about to have. I allow my clients to vent to me about any & everything they may be dealing with. I think it’s the little things like that that mean so much to them. I just want my clients to ALWAYS know how much I appreciate them!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Social media and word of mouth! With social media you have to be consistent and post as often as you can. Take pictures and videos of everything to create your content. Keep up on the trends such as reels to post too. Use hashtags so you get more of an audience! Be thoughtful in your captions you have to grab people’s attention. Word of mouth will always be your biggest strategy in gaining clientele. When you have loyal clients bragging about you & putting your name in someone else’s ear those people start to think about you & then may follow you on social media to see more of your work. So I believe these two things go hand in hand.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think my honesty has helped my reputation. When I have my client consultation with a new client/current client we discuss what they want & what they currently have. We discuss the process of how we will get from point A to point B. I tell my clients if I don’t believe their hair can handle the whole process and if we should change something or break it into sessions. At the end of the day I would much rather have my clients with healthy hair & we work towards their goal then over extending their hair & the integrity of it.
