We were lucky to catch up with Briseida Bethancourt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Briseida thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
As someone who prides herself on being genuine and always authentic, I stand out from my industry by choosing to embrace my personality and showcase that not all lawyers are old and boring. The legal industry has this stigma of being stuffy, uptight and stuck up. I strive to demonstrate to my followers and potential clients that not all of us are like that. By doing so, I’ve been able to build my practice with clientele who understand and resonate with me, my personality and my brand. It’s allowed me to build the practice I’ve always envisioned, which is one that revolves around my life and not the other way around.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As an attorney who caters to entrepreneurs and creatives all over the US, I provide services in Business, Trademarks, Contracts and Entertainment Law. The thing I’m most proud of is what I’ve been able to accomplish in this law firm with a lot of prayer, a whole lot of failures and a tremendous amount of faith. What once started out as an idea, has turned into the beginning stages of building my empire.
What I want any client who is considering working with my firm to know is that once hired, I am part of your dream team. I collaborate with you, your staff and your company and work towards assisting you in accomplishing your goals. I am your legal team, confidant and advisor. I understand, as an entrepreneur, the ups and downs that come with branching out on your own and am here to help in any way that I can.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
The main way I keep in touch with my amazing clients is through social media. I show up consistently day in and day out posting content that teaches, inspires and announces any new ventures that they may need to know about. That’s also the easiest, most efficient and fastest way to build brand loyalty and a following as an entrepreneur. Additionally, transparency, authenticity and consistency are the 3 key factors to building brand loyalty.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
People see my successes but don’t see the failures I had to endure along the way. They don’t realize I’ve encountered more Goodbye’s and No’s then I have Yes’s. Naturally, those failures fed my fears. But the one thing it taught me was to lean into them instead of believing them. Fear has the unique ability to paralyze us. It makes us want to retreat and take solace into the things we find comfort in. Good, bad or indifferent, our norm provides comfort. What I realized is that our fears are designed to keep us complacent and stunt growth. It’s entire purpose is to stop us in our tracks. And a lot of us fall victim to that. But I’ve learned to lean in. I’ve learned that the feeling of fear, is exactly what triggers me to push forward. This strategy has not failed me yet and I’ve had and maintained a lot of success because of it.
