We were lucky to catch up with Brigitte Balbinot recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brigitte, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
As a child I was really into the performing art. I used to dance, sing and act. My uncle owned a famous theater in Paris and I was convinced that my path would lead me to be on the acting scene. It is only about a decade and half ago that I found out my passion was painting. I didn’t know what kind of painting though, so I tried every style and medium there is until I found my love and passion for painting with beeswax and fire. There begun the love story.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Besides painting, one of my greatest passion and area of interest is health and wellness. After two decades of a career in the medical industry and studying the mind, body connection, I am a firm believer in curating our mindset, our lifestyle habits and environment to insure optimal well being. My work today is a reflection of this deep understanding and commitment to well-being. My paintings bring a certain energy, one that is meant to calm and balance. My pieces can be found in wellness centers, yoga studios and medical offices in addition to traditional collectors residence and commercial spaces.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes my personal mission is two fold: Bring art to the world that reflects both beauty and a sense of quietude and calm. Amidst chaos I strive to bring peace and serenity. Second, help others by sharing what I know about encaustic painting and wellness. What good is knowledge if not shared to benefit others?
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
How about the years I spent exploring so many materials, genres and technique searching for my own voice. It took me a long long time to get to where I am today as an artist and as a human.
