We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brigit Celznick . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brigit below.
Brigit , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I truly feel I have been an artist all my life. I was so drawn to any arts and craft as a child. I am very thankful my mother made a nurturing environment for my creativity in my younger years. Art has always felt like home to me, but I didn’t start pursing my art professionally until I was about 21 years old. I was working odd jobs at doggy day cares and jet ski rentals to pay my rent in an apartment I shared with roommates that came and went over the years. Any chance I had my days off were spend sitting in front of my patio door on the floor of my bedroom painting. I remember one day after work I was doodling around in a sketchbook when an idea come to me, they often do. It was a beautifully simple surreal scene of whale shark like creatures floating through a forest of blue roses. I instantly wanted to paint it on canvas, and I did so as soon as I had the chance. After that painting was completed I was so enveloped by the process of watching this particular piece of art unfold into a beautiful painting. I vowed to myself that day that I would do anything in my power to be able to do art full-time. It’s been almost 3 years since I made that promise and I’m doing my best to keep it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Brigit Rose, I am an artist from Savannah, Ga USA. I am originally from Cleveland, OH and I moved down south at the age of 18 to go to pursue my art. In 2021 I launched my business, Brigit Rose Arts and its been quite the journey since. I create magical ethereal artworks made to deepen our connection to this place we call home, the universe, and beyond. I have designed and created a variety of products that include journals, bags, greeting cards, prints, magnets, stickers, and some home decor items coming soon!
Creativity has always been apart of my life. I believe that we are all creators, we create all the time! We create relationships, habits, cities, families, trends, etc. We are creating all the time and we don’t even know it. Artists are here to remind everyone of that!
A lot of people tell me that they don’t have a single creative bone in their body. My replay is always “have you ever had a safe place to just create?”. One of my biggest pieces of advice for anyone in this world artist, art lover or not is to keep a sketchbook, journal, whatever you name it. Simply have a space for just you! I kept one singular sketchbook from the ages 12-18 and to this day is one of my prized possessions. This sketchbook documented my growth and development not only as an artist but as a child to an adult. My practice was to complete a drawing and after I would write on the back what inspired it, the date and how I was feeling about it. It was usually an entry about how I away from my sketchbook or that I didn’t like it very much. Other times I had written something extremely profound and moving to read again years later. I am so grateful for the documentation of creative freedom, and the level of independence that those pages gave me in my younger years. I think a lot of people lack that level of self care in their lives at any age. I am a big believer in filling your cup and giving your energy to yourself first before you give it to others. To this day I have a sketchbook with me that I fill up through the year. It marks a passage in time like tree rings long after its been cut. Art and the documentation of it is very similar and worthwhile.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I am heavily inspired by nature. Even down to how I set up my paintings and my compositions. I use grid work, the Fibonacci sequence (the golden ratio of beauty) and other forms of sacred geometry to map out all my pieces before painting. Everything is all tied back to our source. Everything in nature grows, flows to a harmonious rhythm. To hurricane movement, a flower in bloom, water molecules, everything follows these natural sequences. I find it to be the path of least resistance in a world where we fight against it everyday. My main focus and goal in my art career is to not only to be able bring my life to be as harmonious with nature as it can be but also to inspire and educate others to help them on their journey. My hope is that all people feel connected and I don’t think we can be connected without nature. They go together like honey and bees.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think my favorite thing is being a living possibility of a way of life that is truly demanded as impossible or unworthy by society. This is not a path walked or taken lightly. It is definitely a road less traveled on but I think that’s why I have been so drawn to it. I didn’t want to pursue other peoples dreams. I wanted to pursue mine.
