We were lucky to catch up with Brigid Turner recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brigid, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?

I took a risk in 2020 (during the height of thevpandemic) to produce, direct, and star in my first feature film. “I made a movie during the pandemic, not about the pandemic “. I took a chance on myself and everyone who came onboard to help make this film took a chance on me too. I taught my friends and running peers how to be crew. 80% of the actors were first timers working with a handful of professional working actors. Our film is currently on Amazon Prime. I am proud of the film we made with the little bit of resources.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My start into the industry came by way of God directing my path. I started out with modeling and dancing. That led to me having opportunities to be in 2 great films that catapulted me to the career I’m in now. I was then given an opportunity to be an Assistant Director, which led to me to a directing opportunity, which then led to me starting my own production company. My company has produced over 15 films and has won awards.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

One mission I have is to be able to create films that children and their families can watch together. I want the youth and aspiring actors to see the possibilities of working in and on a film. Also, I want people to be inspired by what they see on screen. Seeing the possibilities from actors who look like them.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Your reputation is a driving force to how you can get jobs by word of mouth. I have always said, ” On your job is your next job.” Being professional and doing the best work you can on a project is what gives you a great reputation to continue working on great projects. I believe, this is also the recipe for longevity.
