The idea for BrightMinds Learning emerged from a deep desire to transform the educational landscape by making learning more accessible, engaging, and personalized. It all started in Los Angeles, where we ran a traditional brick-and-mortar institution. Our mission was always to make education exciting and tailored to individual needs, but over time, we began to see cracks in the traditional model. Many of the families we worked with, especially single mothers and working parents, were struggling to balance their careers, commutes, and their children’s education. We saw firsthand the exhaustion on their faces and heard their frustrations about trying to fit their lives around rigid school schedules.
That’s when the realization struck—education shouldn’t add to the stress of family life. Instead, it should be flexible enough to fit seamlessly into their routines. Parents wanted the best for their kids, but the constant juggling between work and commuting to school was wearing everyone out. Students, too, were drained by long days, and their ability to focus and absorb knowledge was diminishing. The idea of shifting from a traditional school model to an online platform began to take root, fueled by our belief that learning should adapt to the modern family’s needs, not the other way around.
The excitement grew as we envisioned a platform where students could attend classes from the comfort of their own homes, without the daily grind of commuting. This wasn’t just about convenience—it was about creating an enriched, flexible learning environment that could cater to each student’s individual pace and interests. We also wanted to offer something unique, something beyond the typical classroom experience. We expanded our offerings to include not just academic courses, but a wide range of classes that would allow students to develop holistically.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We, the co-founders Dami and Poorvi, first crossed paths at an education conference in Los Angeles. Both of us were passionate about finding innovative ways to improve the learning experience for children and families. It was during a breakout session, where we discussed how education could be transformed using technology, that we quickly realized we shared a common vision. We both felt strongly that traditional education, while important, was falling short of truly addressing the challenges faced by modern families—particularly those of working parents and single mothers who struggled to balance their careers, family life, and their children’s education.
After the conference, we continued our conversations, realizing that we were both driven by a shared mission: to make education not just more engaging for students, but also more adaptable and supportive of families’ unique needs. Over numerous coffee meetups and brainstorming sessions, we began to dream about creating something bigger—a flexible, online learning platform that could reach children in the comfort of their homes while also empowering parents.
With Dami’s background in educational technology and Poorvi’s experience in creative program development and family-centered learning, we knew we had the perfect combination of skills to bring our vision to life. Together, we started building BrightMinds Learning with the aim of offering personalized, flexible learning that caters to every child’s unique needs. We didn’t want to just create an academic program; we wanted to create a community where children could thrive, explore their passions, and develop holistically.
