We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brieanna Carter a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brieanna , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Well when starting The Spoiled Brat Life so many people doubted my vision. They told me I needed to change my name, I was trying to do too much at once, I’m too young, it was so much!! So I finally took a risk and quit my job January 1st 2020 and I asked the lord to just bring me 2 clients a week so I can pay my bills and I will figure out the rest. Fast forward to January 26th the amazing Mrs.Renee at Mrs.Renee’s Health Solutions allowed me to come into her suite and work with her and that opened so many doors for me!! Me and Mrs.Renee followed each other on social media we didn’t really know each other she just saw my hustle and how dedicated I was. Then we got hit so hard with the pandemic luckily I had products to back me up and my website was booming during the pandemic. When the world open back up I was still in the suite with Mrs.Renee I eventually moved into my own suite with my best friend and her sister. That was a huge fail but one of the biggest lessons I ever learned. I went back to working at home and I was skeptical but I had to house booming!!! And now this year 2022 I finally have my own body & wellness spa location!!
Brieanna , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a 22 year old licensed esthetician and body contouring specialist. I’ve always had a big dream of owning my own spa but I didn’t even know what an esthetician was. I graduated high school May 2018 and I started esthetician school August 2018. That was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made I met some amazing people and I learned so much. When I was in esthetician school I found out about body contouring. Body contouring wasn’t near as big as it is now back then. One of my classmates helped me find a class. I went to the place and paid for my class in full even though they just asked for a deposit. Once I got certified i began looking for jobs where I could learn more. While in school I was a waitress at a sports bar and working at a body & wellness spa.
In 2019 i graduated esthetician school and began building my brand. In school we studied different products and ingredients which drove me to wanting to make my own products. So I did exactly that I started out with basic products and I would test them on myself and then give them to my friends to try. Shoutout to my friendsss Tierra, keyarra, and poo poo. I started to prefect my craft and I started creating skin care products that everybody could really use and products that was a necessity for clear skin.
In 2020 while I was in my suite I had products in there that I would sell to my clients. My body contouring clients would always get my “Melt Butter” this product was made to help them sweat more when they was wearing their waist trainers they had bought from me.
The Spoiled Brat Life is a place where I taught women that spoiling their self is a lifestyle and not just an every once in a while thing. Our top priority is to give our clients top tier customer service and an amazing experience. We offer body contouring & post op care, facials, waxing, & spa parties.
I am super proud at the fact that I accomplished my goals no matter what was presented in front of me. And of course Im proud at the fact that I was able to proof everybody who doubted me wrong.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think me actually having real results is what help build my reputation. No matter if it was from my skin care products or my services. And i always stayed consistent i always made sure people saw my brand and knew what was going on. People have to see you 7 times to even remember who you are.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think the biggest thing would be trail and error. You learn so much from making one mistake and you know what to do and what not to do next time around. Even if you do it right you know next time around you know for a fact that this technique will work.
