We recently connected with Brieanah Schwartz and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brieanah, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I have always had a passion for animal and environmental protection. From a young age, I had the opportunity to care for a variety of animals, as well as observe our wildlife and visit our wild places. Growing up this way fostered my compassion for non-human animals and their protection.
So, after college, I chose to attend law school to make a difference in the world and bring my advocacy work for animals and the environment to the next level. I graduated from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law with a concentration in environmental law. After graduation, I worked in the nonprofit sector, for animal rights and environmental protection organizations.
While working as an attorney, I found my voice and developed an ability to convey complex, divisive issues in a manner that engaged the public and inspired action. Yet, after advocating for animal protection and helping to secure some influential federal court wins, it became clear to me that our legal system was not the best path to generating the change I wanted to see.
At the end of 2021, I spent a lot of time thinking about my experiences in the animal and environmental protection movement, what I enjoyed, what I wished I could change, what I’d like to do more of, etc. I found that, by far, I was drawn to the opportunities that offered the most room for connection and open communication. I thrived in the challenge of speaking with diverse stakeholders, communicating complex topics clearly, and finding common ground that benefited animals and our environment.
After this realization, I explored copywriting techniques so that I could hone my communication skills and develop new tools that would strengthen my advocacy efforts. I never looked back. Copywriting not only strengthened my advocacy, but it also gave me the creative outlet I’d been searching for. So, I started writing for organizations on a freelance basis, and that work developed into the nonprofit consultancy I have today, Pink Barn Creative.
In truth, choosing to become an entrepreneur was not an easy decision for me. Even today, self-doubt and imposter syndrome live rent-free in my head. But, what drives me is the work itself. Working with amazing organizations, whose missions I am deeply passionate about, helps me push on, challenge myself, and continue to grow my impact.
In 2023, I extended my work to include supporting vegan entrepreneurs with their marketing needs as well. Working with business owners in this space provides me the unique opportunity to drive change from both the business and charity sides of the movement. I am thrilled to be in a place where I can help more people and have a larger impact.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I leverage empathetic, persuasive copy, marketing, and advocacy services to help nonprofit organizations and vegan entrepreneurs achieve their missions. What sets me apart is my ability to combine strategy with storytelling and a coaching mindset. I’m not just writing web copy, sales pages, or marketing campaigns—I’m guiding clients to uncover their voice and refine their vision.
I’m most proud of the moment when clients move from feeling scattered to fully aligned and energized. Often, clients come to me feeling overwhelmed or stuck, unsure of how to express their brand’s impact. I help them gain clarity and confidence so they can share their work in a way that resonates with their audience.
Beyond Pink Barn Creative, I co-host the Plant Powered Business: Strategies to Grow Your Positive Impact podcast, where I share insights to help vegan entrepreneurs grow personally and professionally. I’ve also coached hundreds of aspiring copywriters as they launch the freelance businesses of their dreams, and I’ve supported entrepreneurs as they navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship—so they can ride the waves straight to success!
For me, it’s about more than just delivering results; it’s about helping purpose-driven individuals and organizations overcome blocks, clarify their messaging, and build thriving, supportive communities. I bring strategy, heart, and hands-on collaboration to every project because I believe that when you combine purpose with clear, aligned messaging, you can create far-reaching impact and lasting success.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the wonderful things about being an entrepreneur is the opportunity for self-growth. As a former philosophy major who extensively studied theories of human nature, I’ve long been obsessed with self-improvement and what it means to live a good life. Once I became an entrepreneur, one of the primary lessons I had to unlearn concerned my perception of my own value and how I communicated my value to others.
After all, a big part of entrepreneurship is understanding sales—knowing the value you provide and guiding potential clients through the decision making process. Initially, I had a lot of resistance to the idea that I could ask for compensation at a rate that aligned with its worth. As a recovering people-pleaser, I found it challenging to state my rates, convey the value the client could expect to gain, and stand firm after I spoke my value out loud.
The truth is, it’s still something I’m working on. But, I’ve since realized that what I offer truly does offer incredible value and solves problems for each of my clients. I know my clients are truly better off after we work together. Now I take their transformations to heart and hold them close each time I prepare to state my value and convey how I can help a new client succeed.
At the end of the day, so much of serving your mission, your why for becoming an entrepreneur in the first place, depends on your ability to know and share your value with the world. Learning to own my value and navigate sales conversations effectively has been crucial to my success.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I think the resources that have meant the most to me along my journey have been the communities I became a part of and the people I’ve learned from along the way. There are so many resources for learning skills, trends, and overcoming mindset blocks, but by far I’ve learned the most from connecting with others. Communities are so impactful because you’re surrounded by people who are going through similar experiences to you, who are behind you and ahead of you on the entrepreneurship journey, and who you can be inspired by, learn from, commiserate with, and celebrate with.
Being an entrepreneur can often be a lonely experience. After all, you’re creating your dreams, not someone else’s. Yet, unlike a traditional work environment, you’re often going about this on your own. But, that doesn’t mean that the journey has to be lonely at all! There are communities out there where you can find like-minded people, whether that be through shared values, interest areas, or location, and they will support you, inspire you, cheer you on, and challenge you when you need it the most. You will learn so much just by being around other people who are doing similar work.
That’s why I highly recommend taking the time to find the perfect community for you— a place where you can lean in, get feedback, and build your dreams with the support of others.
