We were lucky to catch up with Brie Nicholson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brie, appreciate you joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
Am I happy as a business owner? Absolutely!! I believe I was made for this. I tried the regular jobs and they never last for me. Well they last a few years but all in all not really for me long term.
Yes there is times where the business is slow and I have to work somewhere to make money.
Yes there is times that I want to give up and figure out a way to make a steady income. But I promise you on those days where I think about giving up, I have a client call me to do an event lol. And of course I go do it and I’m reminded that this business and my clients love me back! Sometimes I think I couldn’t give up if I wanted to!! You can’t run away from a God given talent.
I also love being able to say I work for myself and business is doing great! I wouldn’t change that to say oh I work at so and so now. I feel like I would be unhappy saying I work for someone permanently.
Like saying I gave up on my dreams to make someone else’s come true.

Brie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My business is a mobile bartending service. We provide bartenders for events such as; birthday parties, weddings, pool parties, graduation parties, etc!
I got into this industry in 2015 when I assisted in doing a family reunion in Chicago. That first event showed me that is was possible to make money quicker than waiting on a check in two weeks. I loved watching the family get together and sharing in all their love.
Problem solving I have to do with some clients is most of them have a vision on what they want at the parties but don’t have the contacts. Like I had a client who needed a backdrop picture done and I linked her with a guy I knew. It was the same thing for event planners, and treat/ caterers.
What I believe sets me apart from others is that every client is treated like family! I show them love and respect. My clients and call or text me at any hour for questions or to go over details about the event and they know they’ll get a rapid response.
I get to know my clients, their background and needs. I make it all happen!!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my social media platform by having the guest at the events post me and or my drinks. Often I’m too busy making the drinks that I don’t have time to get a proper photo so I would ask the guest to post and tag me. I get a few more followers that way. Yes I’m am still working to get more followers my goal right now is to have 10k. I need all the followers I can get on instagram!

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes it did! And I’m very proud of myself because of turning my side hustle into my career. This business has gotten me into places I wouldn’t have been in.
All the praises go to God and my clients!
My clients support me and recommend me to new clients! They have gotten me to where I am today as far is being booked all summer long!
