We recently connected with Bridgitte Stuart and have shared our conversation below.
Bridgitte, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Absolutely. The defining moment in my career came when I recognized the deep gap in trauma-informed care and decided to create something to fill it. I had always been passionate about mental health, but the true turning point was when I saw firsthand how many clients—and even clinicians—struggled with navigating trauma in a way that felt structured yet adaptable.
During my early years as a clinician, I worked with individuals who had endured complex trauma. I saw the frustration of clients who felt unseen and the exhaustion of therapists who felt ill-equipped to support them. It became clear to me that a more accessible and comprehensive framework was needed—one that prioritized both healing and clinician confidence. That realization led me to develop the Bridging the Gap Trauma-Pro model, which not only provides a structured approach to trauma recovery but also empowers therapists with clear, practical strategies to guide their clients through the process.
This moment changed everything for me. I shifted from simply being a trauma therapist to an innovator, an educator, and a leader in the mental health space. It led to the expansion of my private practice, Bridging the Gap Therapy Services, and the creation of training programs to help other clinicians become more skilled in trauma work.
The biggest lesson I took away from this experience is that when you see a gap in your field—whether it’s a missing resource, a lack of structured support, or an underserved population—you have two choices: wait for someone else to address it, or take the initiative to create the solution yourself. I chose the latter, and it has been the most rewarding decision of my career.

Bridgitte, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Introducing Bridgitte Stuart: Bridging the Gap in Trauma-Focused Therapy
My name is Bridgitte Stuart, and I am the founder and CEO of Bridging the Gap Therapy Services, a fully online private practice specializing in trauma-focused therapy. My work is dedicated to helping individuals regain a sense of self after experiencing emotional distress, trauma, and burnout. I believe that healing should be accessible, structured, and empowering—ensuring that clients walk away saying, “I feel like myself again!”
How I Got into the Mental Health Industry
My journey into the field of mental health was deeply personal and purpose-driven. I have always been drawn to understanding human behavior and resilience. Early in my career, I worked with diverse populations—survivors of trauma, individuals struggling with anxiety and depression, and professionals experiencing burnout. Over time, I realized that while many clients wanted to heal, they often felt lost in the process. They needed clear guidance, practical strategies, and a therapist who truly “gets it.”
This inspired me to take an innovative approach to therapy, blending evidence-based practices with a structured framework that makes healing feel less overwhelming and more empowering. I created the Trauma-Pro Model, a step-by-step system that helps clients process trauma at a pace that suits them while equipping clinicians with the tools they need to provide effective trauma therapy.
What I Offer & The Problems I Solve
At Bridging the Gap Therapy Services, we specialize in trauma therapy, anxiety treatment, depression, behavioral and mood changes, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and life transitions. Our services include:
1. In-depth assessments, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and couples therapy.
2. The Bridging the Gap Trauma-Pro model, an on-demand trauma focused therapy training program.
3. A Burnout Recovery program, a structured approach to rebuilding confidence after burnout.
4. Clinical Supervision & Training for therapists looking to strengthen their skills in trauma-informed care
I believe what sets me apart is my ability to blend structure with flexibility. Many people who have experienced trauma feel overwhelmed by open-ended therapy. They want clear steps and a roadmap that still honors their individual journey. That’s exactly what I provide—a structured yet adaptable approach to healing.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I am incredibly proud of the impact my work has had, not only on clients but also on other clinicians. Seeing fellow therapists gain confidence in their trauma work through my trainings and supervision fuels my passion. Some of my proudest moments include:
1. Developing the Bridging the Gap Trauma-Pro model, which has helped both clients and clinicians navigate trauma more effectively.
2. Expanding my practice to include a team of skilled clinicians who share my vision for accessible, high-quality trauma therapy
3. Creating recognition and incentives programs to support mental health professionals in avoiding burnout
4. Speaking at mental health events and universities on work-life balance, trauma recovery, and clinician self-care
What I Want Potential Clients & Followers to Know
If you’re struggling, healing is possible—and you don’t have to do it alone. My practice is built on the foundation that you are not “too broken” or “too far gone” to heal. You deserve the opportunity to feel whole again, and my team and I are here to guide you through that journey of feeling like yourself again.
For therapists looking to deepen their expertise in trauma treatment, I am committed to mentorship and education, ensuring that more clinicians feel confident in working with trauma survivors.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Advice for Managing a Team and Maintaining High Morale
Managing a team—especially in the mental health field—requires balance, empathy, and intentional leadership. A team that feels valued, supported, and motivated will naturally provide better care to clients and perform at their best. Over the years, I’ve learned that strong leadership is not about control—it’s about empowerment.
Here are some key principles I follow to manage my team effectively and maintain high morale at Bridging the Gap Therapy Services:
1. Prioritize Clear & Open Communication
A team thrives when communication is transparent, consistent, and two-way. I ensure that my team members always know they can reach out, ask questions, and share concerns without fear of judgment. Regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and open-door policies create an environment where people feel heard and respected.
2. Recognize & Reward Hard Work
People perform better when they feel seen and appreciated. I implemented an incentives program where my team earns rewards for key milestones—such as maintaining a high client show rate, completing treatment plans, and ensuring client safety through proactive planning. Recognition doesn’t always have to be monetary; even a simple shout-out, handwritten note, or spotlight in team meetings can go a long way.
3. Foster a Culture of Growth & Learning
One of the things I value most is professional development. I encourage my team to attend trainings, pursue certifications, and refine their skills. Whether it’s through supervision, mentorship, or funding for continued education, I want my team to feel like they are growing, not just working.
4. Support Work-Life Balance
Burnout is a huge issue in mental health professions. That’s why I emphasize flexible scheduling, mental health days, and self-care encouragement for my team. I also model work-life balance by setting boundaries in my own schedule—because if I expect my team to prioritize their well-being, I need to do the same.
5. Create a Strong Team Connection
Even though my practice is fully online, I make sure my team doesn’t feel isolated. Regular team meetings, check-ins, and team-building activities (even virtual ones!) foster a sense of belonging and collaboration. People stay engaged when they feel connected to a mission bigger than themselves and supported by those around them.
6. Lead with Empathy & Authenticity
Leadership isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up, being real, and leading by example. I’ve found that when I am transparent about challenges, celebrate wins together, and acknowledge when I don’t have all the answers, my team respects me more and feels more invested in our shared mission.
Final Thoughts
A strong team is the heartbeat of any business, especially in mental health. When people feel valued, understood, and supported, they bring their best selves to their work. My advice? Lead with clarity, recognize effort, create growth opportunities, and foster an environment where people feel safe and inspired to do meaningful work.
That’s how you build a thriving team and sustain high morale.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Becoming a CEO and leader in the mental health space has been a transformative journey—one that required me to shift from thinking like a clinician to thinking like an entrepreneur. Along the way, I’ve drawn wisdom mentorship and personal experiences that have deeply impacted my leadership approach.
