We were lucky to catch up with Bridgit Crider recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bridgit , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Our business started as a franchise from another cbd company in 2019 when hemp/cbd was newly legal somewhat but there weren’t many cbd stores in Atlanta. People actually thought we were selling marijuana. Right then we knew we had to position ourselves to educate our community and clients. But, in order to do that we knew we had to get away from the corporate style franchise to be able to branch out and create a platform that suited us. 2 years later the birth of SAHAA CBD ATLANTA happened.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Open since 2019, Sahaa CBD Atlanta is a full hemp dispensary owned and operated by 3 black women Khadijah, Bridgit & Rasheeda. Sahaa means “Health”! Here our shoppers can learn and know the difference traditional medicine healing and wholistic healing with hemp and cbd. We offer a variety of products from oils to gummies to drinks made from hemp.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding for us was and still is tricky. Banks and loan institutions will not fund cannabis businesses. We used our own money collectively and did all of our work inside the store ourselves. Khadijah is a interior designer, her husband is a contractor and Bridgit’s husband is an electrician. We had all the resources we needed to get the store together which was a blessing. To this day we have to keep being creative financially.
