We recently connected with Bridgette Murphy and have shared our conversation below.
Bridgette, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My name is Bridgette Murphy Fashion Designer/Stylist out of Saint Louis MO and now expecting mother of 4! I started sewing about 6 years ago right after having my youngest boy, I suffered from postpartum depression and this time around I picked up a hobby something that interest me to keep me going behold sewing became my positive outlet, my therapy! As I focused on embracing every beautiful thing about myself, I took that along with my new found love for sewing and that became my journey. I’ve gained confidence in my craft and in myself and I want to share this new found love. We should all be Boldly Ourselves and Embrace that!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Fashion has always been in my blood as girl I remember my Great Aunt sewing clothes and putting us in her local fashion shows and also watching my Granny step out in the flyest of outfits and these big bold hats! And how everyone complimented her! She looked good and felt good I could tell and I inspired to make a statement like that! We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn being boxed in. Going through postpartum depression really boxes us in mentally, as women we deal with so many changes and It can be very challenging to except and embrace everything that’s going on so we tend to box ourselves in trying to figure these things out for ourselves when in reality we need support and outlets to keep us from potentially losing ourselves through all the changes. Stepping outside the box can be scary especially if you don’t know what you’re stepping into but with the right support and outlets it can definitely be the step you need to take!
Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
I recently just opened my audience up to the guys and I’m so excited for this next step. I’ve been more tailored to the women the past years so I wanted to broaden my range. I just recently collaborated with a local R and B Artist Mookie Tolliver to help push my vision and marketing for this next step. My goal is to be an Exclusive celebrity designer and design for shows and video sets so this is a major step for me! We just shot our first promo commercial for my next move and he’s allowing one of his songs to be featured as well! This was a big goal of mines this year and we are pulling it off!
