Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bridgette Ivers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bridgette, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about your team building process? How did you recruit and train your team and knowing what you know now would you have done anything differently?
Yes, we’ve had multiple crews with us since day one—some have been with us for over 10 years. Finding the right team members and subcontractors was, and still is, absolutely crucial. In the early days, I took a very hands-on approach. I would have new team members work on my personal residence or at my furniture store in Frisco, Texas—Designer Haus—before ever putting them on a client project. It allowed me to see how they handled everything: from prep work to execution, their punctuality, their cleanup process, and—just as importantly—how they interacted with clients. That unconventional approach became part of our training process. It ensured every person on site not only had the technical skills but also aligned with our standards of professionalism and care. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have found great people early on who shared that same commitment—and many of them are still with us today.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m an interior designer and general contractor with a degree in Interior Architecture and Design from the University of Georgia. I’ve been in the business for over 25 years, and I bring both creative and technical expertise to every project. What sets Legacy Renovations and Design apart is that I wear both hats—interior designer and contractor—so I’m able to provide a streamlined, cohesive process from start to finish. This dual role helps eliminate miscommunication between design and construction, keeps projects within budget, and ensures a more efficient and enjoyable experience for the client.
We specialize in kitchen and bath remodels, but we’re equipped to handle everything from ground-up builds to full-scale residential and commercial renovations. One area we’ve become known for is our work in doctor’s offices and medical spaces, where functionality and aesthetics both matter deeply.
I’m incredibly proud that our business has grown almost entirely by word of mouth—we’re typically booked out months in advance, which is a testament to the trust our clients place in us. For potential clients, I want them to know that when they work with us, they’re getting a highly personalized, detail-oriented experience with a team that truly cares about getting it right.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Like many in the industry, we had to pivot quickly during COVID. At first, not being able to enter people’s homes brought our residential projects to a halt. It was a challenging moment—we had to pause, reassess, and prioritize the safety of our teams and clients above all else.
But interestingly, after those initial weeks, the business experienced a significant upturn. As people spent more time at home, they began to notice the things they had been putting off—kitchens that didn’t function well, bathrooms that needed updating, or unused spaces they wanted to transform into home offices or gyms. People started to care more deeply about their surroundings, and that opened the door for a lot of new projects.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe our reputation has been built on consistency and trust. Regardless of how much we’ve grown over the years, our approach and values have stayed the same. We’ve maintained long-standing relationships with our subcontractors, which is rare in this industry where high turnover is so common. That stability translates into quality, reliability, and accountability on every project.
Our pricing is also consistent and transparent. We don’t mark up materials—in fact, we offer our clients building materials at wholesale cost. We provide everything from tile, countertops, and flooring to interior doors, cabinetry, hardware, and lighting. Additionally, I own a furniture store, Designer Haus in Frisco, Texas, where our clients can furnish their homes and take advantage of exclusive discounts. It’s that full-service approach—combined with honesty, clear communication, and attention to detail—that’s helped us earn the trust of our clients and build a strong word-of-mouth reputation.
