Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bridgette Audrey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Bridgette, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Throughout my life, I’ve lived by the motto “take the risk or lose the chance”. This has pushed me outside my comfort and beyond capabilities I didn’t even know I could do. I believe my first call to duty as a risk taker was deciding to take on the career as an Actor. I was about 4 -5 years old when I knew this craft was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. From then on I’ve gone onto many performing arts schools, workshops, masterclasses, thespian competitions, plays, and a conservatory of arts to study my craft. In 2020 I decided to move to LA the moment I got a job on set of a Hollywood production as a key PA. It was Covid of 2020 in November, I moved across the entire country gathering my belongings every time I went home for the holidays. I completely dug into my savings trying to navigate through LA rent and Covid. I moved to a new city to chase my dreams and took the risk to start a new life from scratch.
Bridgette, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I first sunk my teeth into the industry starting out on set as a Production Assistant. Landing freelance work by word of mouth in Miami, Fl. I went to college at New World school of the Arts a conservatory in downtown Miami. I studied Theatre got my AA, and realized school was confining me to miss out on opportunities that were happening for me. I left school signed with an agency, booked a few jobs and began working production on set. 5 Years later I’ve worked my way from various position on set starting as an assistant for tv shows and music videos, to later working as art department, set dresser, creative director, Bts photographer and now a producer based out of Los Angeles, California.
I have pushed and strived everyday for work that fulfills me. Working freelance in the entertainment industry is not for the weak, You have to listen to the voice inside of you and ask yourself “where does your heart lie”? My passion lies in creating stories through film. How can I build a real world, create a real story and share it with my audience to bring the presence of the moment into translation.
What has always set me apart, is that I’ve not afraid to get my hands dirty and put in the extra time on set to make my visions come to life. No matter the obstacle in the way, I find how to make it work. I provide the services of a production house; In essence, I serve as the bridge between the creative vision of clients and the practical execution of their ideas. Working with numerous brands and bringing a different marketing aspect to consumerism- UGC content creating for products ranging in fashion: apparel, shoes, jewelry, to commercial home brands: mattress/ bedding, clean water sourcing, sustainability and beauty services.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in my journey. Sharpening my skills with each new project completed, I’ve gone on to produce for big names in the industry and assist award winning directors in Hollywood. As an Actor and creative, I couldn’t sit by and wait for someone to hand me my shot, I went on to create the opportunity myself. In this creative industry rejection is constant but don’t let that shy you away, instead use it to fuel you everyday.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the process. The process as a creative teaches you about life. Your success does not happen over night, rather the work you put in everyday. Everyday you are a step closer. Many people fear the process. They fear, they won’t make it till the end. They fear it is too hard, they lose patience, they lose the reasoning behind why they do it in the first place. Any creative knows it’s’ not about jumping to the end result, it’s about taking your time in your process to achieve the highest quality of work.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The mission driving my creative journey, is to create film. Cinema has driven me my entire life. When I hear music, read a book, write poetry, share a life experience- each moment paints a picture in my head that’s translates and transmutes a symbiosis of my life into art.
