We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bridget Pierson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Bridget, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Digital marketing has always been popular for many businesses but right now it seems to be especially high to have authentic visual content. I’ve done this with a local brand, tailored a photoshoot around their products and employees to create authentic imagery that tells their story. I can’t stress enough how useful the images are!

Bridget, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My passion around photos goes back to my childhood, I’ve always loved having visuals that tell a story and the memories you can look back on but I never really thought of myself as a photographer or even though it could be my career. So I pursed a career in Administrative & Marketing until 2021 when I took a step away from it after having our second baby who was born with a genetic condition. My focus was on him and our family until he was in a good place which eventually has given me an opportunity to get back into my goals and passions.
I always thought I had to be the person that everyone else wanted me to be or that I needed to have just one skill and be really really good at that. A dear friend recommended a simple exercise to me a long time ago, list out the things you love doing and take your top three things and make a career out of it. So I picked up a camera and decided it was the perfect time to create my own identity in photography but also as me.
After having a full year under my belt now I’ve had many highs and lows but most importantly I found my love for honing in on branding, family & engagement sessions. I feel honored when someone asks me to take their photos, its the greatest compliment. I never thought as a wife and working mom I would be capable of turning a “cool dream” into my reality.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
When I first started building out my business I didn’t want to do a website right away however that played a key part. Being able to be seen on Google is a huge for my audience when they are searching for photographers near them. In addition, being able to get Google reviews which helps tremendously in gaining new clients.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Surrounding yourself with others who are like-minded or build you up as a person is the best medicine. If something isn’t serving you purpose or filling your cup, remove it from your life. I have a couple entrepreneurial women in my life I look up to and they have been the most encouraging and supportive humans. Also, I love leaning into podcasts that I can relate with or get inspiration from.
