We were lucky to catch up with Bridget Halanski recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bridget, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you manage your own social media?
We here at Select handle our own social media accounts, with a Global PR person to spearhead national/international campaigns or digital marketing initiatives. We know the importance of each market having their own voice and aesthetic, so each office (Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago and Atlanta) have their own social media pages to highlight their individual talent while still maintaining our network image and branding. Social Media is the most important tool for scouting new models–the reach on Tik Tok and instagram is far bigger than coordinating something at a local venue, or doing open calls at the office weekly. We still street scout and hold these open calls, but you can find the next star while simply scrolling social media any time of the day. We just have to be careful these images are not filtered, and we find out an aspiring model’s true height and size! When we do run these digital marketing campaigns and online model searches, the impressions are tremendous. We definitely target the areas where we have a presence, and have signed some amazing models from our active searches on Tik Tok alone! My biggest advice– hire the new generation who are well versed in all of this and let them roll with it!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have been in the modeling business since 2006 , and after being a successful booker and I now oversee a team of 18 agents and scouts based in Miami, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Chicago for Select Model Management. Select is a full service agency that provides talent of all genders, sizes, ages and types. Our customer base ranges from high profile casting directors for image level fashion projects to ecommerce brands and social media marketing. Select is a major network name with 8 global locations, but there is something that sets us apart from the other agencies–each office still operates as a “boutique” agency and the agents are very hands on with the models we represent. We are an extremely functional network and a “happy family”, if you will. Our agents truly care and have passion for what they do. I personally have known some of the models on my roster for 16+ years. I am very loyal to the company and so are they. I think what sets me apart from others in this field is my ability to connect with people and retain clients–I love to network. Also, my reply time is pretty impeccable, if I should say so myself!

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
In the modeling world, it used to be street scouting– which we still do– but social media has revolutionized our reach and how we scout. We can target certain areas/cities and see a talent’s personality from their posts and videos.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I always say integrity, hard work, resilience and our level of service–being the quickest to respond and service our customers (brands) and our models. We have had some turnover since Select opened the 4 offices in the US, which has not been easy. However, I embrace change and use it as an opportunity to grow and take risks. I love our current team. We are the most functioning network I know in our biz!
