Alright, Briasia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?

After graduating college, I realized I didn’t want to work a normal 9-5. I’ve always felt like I was destined for greatness. Although entrepreneurship sounded great, I still had bills to pay. It wasn’t until I started working my second 9-5 job I realized I was unhappy where I was. I didn’t like being told what to do from someone who didn’t respect me as an employee or even a human being. I felt as though I deserved so much better. I owed it to myself. Once I got fed up with the unfair treatment that comes with working in a toxic workplace, I quit my job cold turkey. “Sink or swim right? God has my back.” That is what I told myself as I walked out of the office. Bills still had to be paid and I didn’t want to be unhappy. So I started doing something that made me both happy and money. Content Creation. I started creating content on apps like TikTok and Instagram and to my surprise, I was receiving paid brand deals to review products. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am a content creator and journalist with over 4 years of writing and social media management experience. I began my content creation journey back in 2016. I made myself a YouTube channel just to see how creative I could get with the fun and regular videos I had in my camera roll. I used to do majorette dancing in high school so I would post the videos on my channel. I created a really nice thumbnail and the within a week or so, the video(s) had went viral! So from there, I started documenting my everyday life, my college career, and now I do lifestyle vlogs. I’ve received so many opportunities from paid brand deals to a paid deal with Nike for a commercial.

Just from posting my content, I learned that you never know who is watching. That inspired me to create content on other platforms like TikTok and Instagram. I also was inspired to launch my own boutique business. I figured since I had the platform, why not promote my business on there? And so my entrepreneurship journey was born.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I built my audience just by simply being myself. Believe it or not, there may be something in you or about you that people may really like or love that you don’t even notice. I have a passion for creating something and watching it grow. I love creating concepts or ideas that’ll get people talking. I love interacting with people online or inspiring people to do or buy something.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the impact. I love receiving messages about how I’ve inspired someone to do something or how I’ve helped them. It really does something to me and it motivates me to keep going.
