Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brianni Lundy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brianni, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Naming a business is a lot harder than most people think. Then there’s the red tape of state databases and making sure that the name isn’t being used.
When I was came up with B. Glossy, I was bouncing other names off my brother and a few friends, but none of them really stuck out. I thought to myself “What did I love about nails?” Then it hit me: that final top coat that is applied when the nail art is done. The glossy top coat! I always want my nails to BE GLOSSY.
I abbreviated “be” to the first letter of my name, cleared the State database to be sure it wasn’t being used and B.Glossy Nails was born.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi everyone! My name is Brianni. Most call me Bri. I am 31 years of age, born and raised in Miami, Florida. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florida A&M University in 2015. Go Rattlers!
I never thought of becoming a nail artist, let alone a business/brand owner. I grew up around entrepreneurs like my father and aunt so it was in my blood. I always knew that I wanted something of my own, that I have full control over. I also loved getting my nails done as a teenager and throughout college. I was so intrigued about the process.
I made the decision to launch my business in December 2020, during the middle of COVID-19. I purchased a starter kit from my nail technician at the time, Mikaylia of Lioness Nails, and started practicing at home on my mom and friends. I resigned from my full-time job mid-2021, filed for my LLC and enrolled in LaBelle Beauty School that fall. I was hired at NailDega Beauty in downtown Miami towards the end of beauty school, working there until I moved to Grovetown, Georgia. Here, I currently accept clients in a private, secluded space in my home until I have my suite up and running.
I provide acrylic and natural nail and toe services, ranging from full acrylic sets to manicures and pedicures, simple nail art and designs. I also create luxury press-on nails under B.Press’d by B.Glossy. I’m working on my own line of acrylic powder, gel polishes, and cuticle oil that will be offered in-person and on my website. My custom polish and glitter mixes are what set me apart from others in the industry, but the experience and retention are what brings my clients back.
I’m most proud of my resilience and perseverance throughout my career thus far. I’ve had some minor setbacks, but none of that has kept me from doing what I love: creative nails.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
This one will always remind me that I can persevere through anything.
I moved here to Grovetown, from my hometown of Miami late 2021. Upon my arrival, I received my luggage and equipment case from baggage claim only to see that the case was ransacked; top half missing and bottom half nearly empty! Most of my supplies were gone: acrylic powders, polish swatches, art brushes, both of my e-files, and more completely gone. Someone stole my nail equipment at some point during my flights. Sounds absurd doesn’t it?
The airline was able to recover the top half of the case with everything in it, but there was no luck for the missing items in the bottom half.
I was so upset and embarrassed, I cried in the airport. I was heartbroken.
Of course, I filed a claim with the airline and was compensated for the missing items. The real blessing though, was my good friend Charity. (Hey Friend!)
I swallowed my pride, hurt, and shame to inform her that I would not be able to fulfill her press-on order in the allotted time frame due to the mishap. She was hurt FOR me. My sister helped me up and told the world what happened.
Because of her and the generous spirit of other friends, some family and even complete strangers, I recouped what was missing PLUS MORE. B.Glossy Nails came back stronger than ever in 2022! Sometimes we have to lose to win.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I had to turn my life around after a major tragedy.
Two friends and I were in a terrible car accident in 2013, on our way back to school after spring break, The crash resulted in the loss of life of one friend. I carry her spirit with me everyday.
During my recovery, my parents and I decided that medical leave for the remainder of the semester would be the best for my mental health. I went to therapy every week until my doctor decided I was cleared and ready to go back to school. Because of this, I had to adjust my graduation year from 2014 to 2015; retaking the courses I withdrew from and attending summer school to be able to graduate in my newly set year. That was a tough time but by God I made it through.
