Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brianne Rehak. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Brianne thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I ask myself this question often. Would I be happy with a regular job? I consider this question on days like today when the weather is going to turn and I will have kids home from school. I still have charcuterie boards to be made for events even though the weather is not great, life goes on! The truth is, as appealing as it is to have a regular job with perks of being able to call in and take some paid time off, I would absolutely miss the fun of being an entrepreneur. There is comfort in the daily chaos of running a business, a household and managing the family.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hello, I am Brie. I make charcuterie boards! I started this business as a creative outlet during covid. I needed a small break from my children being home every day. HA! In the years PC (pre-covid) I was a full time working mom, and my kids were at school and daycare all day – lord bless the childcare providers! This business started small, a few boards a month grew into a few boards a week and has now grown into a few boards a day and corporate orders. It seems that every direction I turn a new charcuterie business is popping up. I wanted to make sure I set myself apart from so many offering this service so I immediately found a commercial kitchen to rent and applied for proper licensing. That license has give me so many incredible opportunities with large groups, corporations and event centers. Every day I am absolutely floored by the growth of this company (and myself). I love thinking about each board and what goes on it, who will receive it and how happy they will be when they get it. That’s maybe my favorite part of this business, knowing the recipient will be so happy. I have yet to delivery a board to an angry customer, I mean, who doesn’t love cheese?! I think often about where this business has gone and where it could go and it seems like the are no limits.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I have a very strong following in my area, but I do believe being in a small town has really helped launch this. I am so proud that my business growth has truly been from word of mouth. My business has grown completely from referrals and reviews. I have yet to pay for advertising, that is pretty unreal. I try to be involved in as many community events as I can, too.
How did you build your audience on social media?
My Facebook presence it starting to really gain momentum, and locally that is the best possible thing that can happen. Many say Instagram is ‘now’ and Facebook is so ‘then’ and I don’t disagree, but there’s more to it. If you have a business and you are looking for local customers, Facebook IS your audience. I have found that engaging with other businesses, schools and groups has really helped me to level up. I get a ton of referral business from Facebook, too. Posting regularly, creating stories and the occasional give away will all help launch you. They also say going ‘Live’ will launch you too, but I am just not quite brave enough for that, yet!
