Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brianne Day. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brianne , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe sticking with what you enjoy doing and what drives your passion. Depending on the field you work you don’t have to do everything or excel at everything but focus on the areas your excel in and not the areas you dislike. For me I don’t offer novelty/character cakes. Not my style and I don’t enjoy making them.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been passionate about baking since I was a kid. Professionally starting working in 2007 at the Great Harvest Bread Co.
From there I worked at restaurants, wholesale bakeries, independent bakeries and just learned as much as I could.
I offer a variety of items from cakes, pies, cookies, wedding desserts, nostalgic desserts, etc.
I’m most proud of the adversity I’ve had to conquer over the years and the amount of work I’ve done to not only provide clients with what I love to do but also being very transparent with how I run my business and things I can/cannot do. It’s important to me to stay in my lane and to do the things that represent me.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Reviews don’t make or break your business. We tend to hold a lot of value on “reviews” but everything is subjective in life. I’ve had fabulous reviews and really awful ones. I learned to let go and know that because 1 person may hate my product it doesn’t mean all do. I do not put weight or thought into bad reviews anymore and it’s a nice freedom to have. You cannot please everyone

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Work the same way you expect your employees to work. Treat them the same exact way you want to be treated back. How you speak to others /employees makes a huge difference on team morale, also pay them well!
