We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brianna Valdez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brianna, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?

Content creating and live-streaming have lead me to complete a lot of meaningful projects, but my favorites always involve working with charities. My biggest passions in life are being creative and helping others, and this career has allowed me to combine both in the most incredible way. I have fundraised about $20,000 over the past four years for a number of amazing causes including St. Jude Children’s research hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, Extra Life, Stream for a Cause, and more. I host events on my Twitch channel to raise money for charity while I play video games, have fun with friends, wear awesome costumes, work on art projects, and more! It is truly so fulfilling for me to be able to make a difference in this world doing something I enjoy and love so much.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Brianna Valdez, also known as Adorabri on all platforms. I am a streamer and social media content creator from Southern California. Just about four years ago, I found the live-streaming platform Twitch and my entire life changed forever. What started off as a casual hobby while I worked on getting my college degree slowly turned into a career that I adore so much. My content is a variety of all of my favorite things including makeup/beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and gaming. My favorite part about content creating and live-streaming is how many amazing people from all over the world I get to meet. It has truly broadened my ability to communicate with others and get to know them on a deeper level. I love providing people a safe space away from their day where they can have fun and feel a sense of community and acceptance. We truly are like a small family in an online world that is so big. All are welcome in my little corner of the internet – we love meeting new friends! I also found a way to incorporate my love of helping others in charity live-streaming. I get to fundraise for amazing causes and be creative at the same time, which truly is so fulfilling for me. This career involves all of my favorite things at the same time and I really couldn’t ask for more than that!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Building an audience is incredibly hard on social media, especially today when it seems everyone is trying to pursue a career in content creation. My best piece of advice I can give is to start a social media career with the right intentions – if you go into it with the idea that you’re going to go viral overnight or make a ton of money off of it, you’re going to be incredibly disappointed. The percentage of people that truly “make it” in this industry is incredibly small. However, if you start doing social media because you truly love it and have a passion for it, you’ll never find yourself hating it. Especially when growth takes a lot of consistency in things like content, posting schedules, and being constantly active on socials. Everyone has a different idea of what “making it” means, but the numbers game never really stops once it starts in this industry. That’s why it’s important to do what you love and the audience will slowly follow. Be yourself and be genuine! You are unique and there is nobody else like you – that alone already gives you a leg up on everyone else.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is all the amazing people I have gotten to meet along the way. Whether that’s others that share common passions with me and work in the same field, or those that support us and enjoy our content. I love bringing people joy and happiness with my work and content, and this is truly the best field to do that in. If I can make a difference in the life of just one person, that makes it all so worth it.
