We were lucky to catch up with Brianna Tucker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brianna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I started getting paid to do photography in 2019, although I had always had a love for it. I started out doing Senior at Tarleton State University where I got my Degree in Agricultural Communications. It soon developed in to working with influencers and brands as well as couples and weddings. I did an internship in the marketing department at Tarleton where I got to hone in on my marketing skills and take photos at the National Finals Rodeo on behalf of Tarleton which was an awesome experience. I also had an internship at Volleman’s Family Farm where I was there Marketing Specialist and got to help create the marketing standard they use today. After college, I continued my photography business and got a job working at Twisted X as their Marketing Coordinator and Photographer where I get to do photography full-time, as well as run their social media accounts and manage all of our influencers and ambassadors. Considering I got my dream job at the age of 21, I don’t think there was anything I could do to speed up the process. I got that job because I did a mock interview with Katie Armstrong at American Hat Co. and she was so impressed with me that she recommended me to Twisted X when she was asked who she would recommend.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I kind of touched on this in the question before, but I am a Freelance Western Lifestyle Photographer and also the full-time Marketing Coordinator for Twisted X. I am very proud of how far I have come since 2019 and all of the goals I have accomplished so far. I have been featured and worked with brands such as Wrangler and Cowgirl Magazine. I have taken photos of World Champion Rodeo athletes and a high profile actor. I have taken photos at the National Finals Rodeo and The American Rodeo. I have a unique situation where I get to do photography for myself, but also for my full-time job for an amazing company.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what has helped build my reputation is that I want to be someone that people want to continue to work with. I strive to make every person feel comfortable and relaxed when working with me. I feel I go above and beyond when delivering for my clients because I truly want them to be happy, even if I may not work like other photographers. I don’t like to set boundaries on deliverables. I work in an insanely timely manner with a super fast turn around. I aim to make friends with my clients and create those loyal relationships. I also work to create opportunties for those that support me when those opportunities arise. I want everyone to feel there best when they are done with a session with me.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
At the end of the day, I want to reach and meet as many people as possible. I want to continue to work with more and more brands and build those relationships. I want to continue to do work that makes me happy. I will never be a full-time photographer specifically because I want to enjoy it and be able to afford to take a break when it feels necessary and not have to worry about money coming in. I just want to continue to grow my work and better myself along the way and help other people feel better as well,
