We recently connected with Brianna Thompson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brianna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
Innovation often comes from combining resources, relationships, and teamwork to execute bold ideas. In September 2023, I helped bring First Wave Social to life—a creator house where 14 talented creators collaborated to produce high-quality content for Q4 paid ad campaigns. The goal was to support brands’ marketing strategies during one of the busiest seasons of the year.
While I wasn’t the sole mind behind the project, I contributed significantly by securing $20,000 in brand partnerships. One of these partnerships was with a brand I had been freelancing for at the time, leveraging that pre-existing connection to showcase the unique value of First Wave Social.
This experience highlighted the power of teamwork, strategic relationship-building, and creative problem-solving. It’s a great example of how small, innovative actions—like assembling the right group of creators and aligning with brands’ marketing goals—can lead to big results.

Brianna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I first began posting content consistently online in 2022, eventually going viral with something I called #TheAliceExperiment—a persona where I embodied my highest self. That experience taught me the power of intentional content creation. By 2023, I decided to monetize my skills without pursuing the traditional influencer route. That’s when I discovered UGC (User-Generated Content) creation. I landed my first brand deal through the comment section of a brand marketing manager, earning $200 for my work.
My passion for video making runs deep—I’ve loved it since elementary school, teaching myself video editing for fun on YouTube before formally learning Adobe Premiere Pro in high school. Over the years, I’ve honed both technical and creative skills that now drive my career. Balancing college, content creation, and building my freelance business was one of my biggest challenges, but taking time off from university allowed me to dive fully into my craft. This journey led to my current full-time role as a video strategist for a fast-growing agency, where I manage a video team to produce ads for a variety of clients.
As a freelancer, I focus on UGC and occasional direct-response video editing services. My work involves brand-market analysis, competitor research, and crafting detailed creative briefs. I use these insights to create strategic, high-converting content for mid-sized to large brands and agencies. My goal is to help brands diversify their ad accounts with cost-effective, high-quality content that often outperforms influencer marketing.
What sets me apart is the combination of my formal training and years of hands-on experience. I’ve worked with well-known brands like Allbirds, Curology, and Monopoly GO! in capacities ranging from creative strategy to video editing and full-service UGC production. I balance technical expertise, analytical thinking, and creativity to produce ads that stand out and deliver results.
Some of my proudest accomplishments include securing $20,000 in brand partnerships for the creator house First Wave Social and generating over $50,000 in revenue for brands via TikTok Shop. These milestones reflect my ability to create content that drives real impact for my clients.
When clients work with me, they gain a partner who is both strategic and highly skilled. My systems are built to develop comprehensive strategies and deliver video creatives that brands return to time and time again. Looking forward, I’m passionate about empowering aspiring creators with the tools and resources to succeed in the creator economy. Whether it’s helping brands grow or inspiring others to reach their wildest creative dreams, I’m excited about the endless possibilities in this space.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My biggest opportunities in my career came from consistent visibility in the places that mattered. Using my skills to develop a personal brand in places like TikTok and LinkedIn have allowed industry leaders to find me and work with me. Additionally, the connections I’ve built with other creators and strategists have been priceless.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think the combination of my job being creative + my job opportunity initially finding me through content online is already unconventional. As a creative, my craft and what I could creatively build has always taken precedence.
This held true regardless of thriving in academic spaces and regardless of having scholarships that would fund a degree for me. Still, staying true to my creative skills is what landed me a full time role and various freelance clients over the past 2.5 years.
