We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brianna Terry a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brianna, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The Story Behind My Mission
At the heart of my photography business is a deep passion for capturing authentic, meaningful moments that reflect the essence of people’s lives. My mission is to create timeless images that couples, families, and individuals will cherish for years to come. Photography has been a lifelong love of mine, and over the years, I’ve come to realize that it’s not just about taking pictures—it’s about documenting stories.
My mission became clear as I started photographing weddings and engagements: these are moments that mark pivotal transitions in people’s lives, and being able to freeze that joy, emotion, and love in a photograph is an incredible privilege. I want to ensure that every client, whether it’s a couple on their wedding day or a family celebrating a special occasion, feels seen and represented in their most authentic way.
Additionally, I have a deep love for animals, which is why pet photography also holds a special place in my heart. Being able to capture the bond between people and their pets has been one of the most rewarding parts of my work. I’ve collaborated with local businesses like Port City Paws to offer pet parents beautiful portraits of their beloved animals. It’s a joy to be able to give them lasting memories of their furry family members.
Ultimately, my mission is to use my camera to create a connection. Whether it’s helping someone feel confident and beautiful in front of the lens, or giving them images they can pass down through generations, my goal is always the same: to capture the moments that matter most.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
About Me & My Business
My name is Brianna Terry, and I’m the owner and photographer behind Savi Photos, based in New England. I’ve been a photographer for over seven years and have been running my own business for the last three years. Photography started as a passion and has grown into something that brings me so much fulfillment, as I get to capture life’s most precious moments for my clients.
I specialize in weddings, engagements, couples, and portrait photography, though I’m always excited to take on new challenges. My work is focused on telling real stories and capturing authentic moments, whether it’s the love between a couple on their wedding day or the bond between a pet and their owner. I believe every person and every moment is unique, and my goal is to create images that reflect that individuality.
One thing that sets my business apart is my willingness to travel anywhere for my clients. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing across the U.S., and I pride myself on being adaptable and ready to go wherever a story takes me. I also offer specialized pet portraits, which stem from my love of animals.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to make clients feel comfortable in front of the camera. Many people feel nervous or unsure during photoshoots, but I work hard to create an environment that puts them at ease, allowing me to capture their true selves.
For potential clients, I want them to know that when they choose Savi Photos, they’re not just hiring a photographer. They’re hiring someone who is passionate about making their experience memorable, delivering timeless images, and going the extra mile—whether it’s through personal attention or traveling long distances. I aim to create lasting connections and provide images that will be treasured for a lifetime.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Turning My Side Hustle into a Full-Time Career
My photography journey began as a hobby and side hustle that I nurtured while juggling other jobs, such as working at a humane society and a daycare. I’ve always had a passion for capturing moments, and after years of photographing friends, family, and local events, I realized this was something I could turn into a business.
At first, photography was something I did on weekends or after work, shooting portraits and small events. But as I gained more experience, my confidence and client base grew. I officially launched my business, Savi Photos, three years ago, offering portrait, couple, and wedding photography. The turning point came when I started receiving more inquiries than I could handle part-time, and I realized it was time to take the leap and pursue this full-time.
One of the key milestones in scaling my business was when I decided to focus on weddings, engagements, and couples photography. These sessions truly speak to my passion for documenting love stories, and they’ve helped me establish a niche within the market. Another major milestone was expanding my services to include travel photography, allowing me to serve clients across the U.S. This flexibility has not only grown my client base but also made my business unique.
Going full-time wasn’t without its challenges. I had to learn the business side of things, from managing client expectations to building an online presence and marketing myself. But through persistence and a genuine love for what I do, I’ve been able to turn my passion into a sustainable business.
Today, I’m proud to say that I’m a full-time photographer based in New England, traveling wherever my clients need me. The journey has been rewarding, and the experiences I’ve gained along the way have only deepened my love for photography.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
What’s Been the Most Effective Strategy for Growing My Clientele?
One of the most effective strategies for growing my photography clientele has been building genuine relationships and focusing on word-of-mouth referrals. Since I specialize in capturing meaningful moments—whether it’s weddings, engagements, or portraits—many of my clients come to me because of personal recommendations. By ensuring that every client feels valued, comfortable, and receives high-quality images, I’ve been able to create lasting connections that lead to new opportunities.
Social media has also played a significant role in expanding my reach. Platforms like Instagram and Facebook allow me to share my work with a broader audience, showcase my portfolio, and engage with potential clients. Consistency is key—I regularly post behind-the-scenes content, client testimonials, and highlight different sessions to keep my followers engaged and excited about my work.
Running promotions, like seasonal mini-sessions, has also been a great way to attract new clients. These shorter sessions are perfect for clients who want a taste of my services without the commitment of a full session, and many of them return for more extensive sessions in the future.
Finally, staying adaptable and open to traveling has set me apart. I’m based in New England but travel anywhere in the U.S. for weddings and events, which allows me to connect with clients from different regions who are looking for a photographer willing to go the extra mile.
