We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brianna Santana . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brianna below.
Brianna, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I have been able to earn a full living from doing nails. I first started working at a nail salon at the age of seventeen, I was barely making any profit, but I continued because I love what I do. It was not from day one, I was always judged based off of how young I looked and was, the major steps that helped me speed up the process was proving to those who didn’t believe in me that I was good at my job, after that word of mouth and recommendations brought tons of clients.

Brianna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Brianna, I’m 19 years old and I first got into the beauty industry by doing my friends nails for fun at the age of 15. I’ve always loved anything that had to do with makeup, art, nails etc. I’m most know for my nail designs, anything from simple French to full-on intricate cartoon characters! I think what sets me apart from the rest is my attention to detail. I am most proud of my affiliation with the company Valentino Beauty Pure, they are the most popular nail brand and I’m honored I get to show of all my favorite products that help me achieve my style of nails. I am a perfectionist, I prioritize making my clients dreams/ideas come to life!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Yes, I was working at a place where someone took advantage of my love for my craft and kindness, I was constantly pushed to overwork myself till the point where I questioned if nails was what I really want to pursue in my life. I finally made the decision to remove myself from that space and started to work independently. It was the hardest yet best decision I made on my life. I’m so proud of myself for never giving up on nails.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to learn that no person is worth disturbing your inner peace, yes at first you have accept every client that walks through the door, however you have to surround yourself with people who appreciate and love you and your work as much as you do. I’ve managed to create beautiful friendships throughout this journey because of this lesson.
