Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brianna Ortiz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brianna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
For the past 5 years I’ve been donating my artwork to Camp Fire First Texas located in Fort Worth TX. Every Fall I work on a piece to be submitted and auctioned off to raise money to fund child care services, school supplies, after school programs and more! I’ve met a lot of great people and I will continue to give back and support kids in the community. It means a lot to me knowing that I’m doing more that just creating a piece of artwork. I’m helping the next generation.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi there! My name is Brianna and It’s always a pleasure collaborating with Canvas Rebel so thank you for having me back! I got into the painting world in early 2016 as an outlet of expression and shortly realized that I was pretty darn good at this. I consider myself a versatile artist because I can paint almost any concept. I started painting landscapes then later fell in love with portraits and cartoon/anime art which quickly became my best sellers. What sets me apart from others is I am also a freelance model, singer and dancer. I’m a woman of many hats.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The community. Hands down the people I have met during this journey has been so supportive. My buyers are also very special to me knowing that something I created was purchased and now displayed on their home walls is rewarding and gives me a warm feeling of accomplishment. I like to know that I have inspired others or have made some type of impact and if a painting was purchased along the way then that is a bonus.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was diagnosed with anxiety many years ago and will try to create but occasionally cant because It causes a disconnection in comparison to artist block. My work is very emotionally, mentally and musically driven that most of my pieces were painted when I was sad, mad or had music playing which is why I’m seen dancing in some of my time-lapse videos. The majority of my concepts have abstract colors, texture, nature and human portraits intertwined because my mind has so many complex and vibrant ideas that I cant just stick to one as a mirror image of my anxiety. I’ve always been hard on myself and tend to over think and yet, still create something beautiful. The things I struggle with are the same things that push me and make me stronger.
