Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brianna Lee Anguiano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brianna Lee, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
“Siempre Hermanas” is a deeply personal project I’ve been nurturing for over a year. Through this series, my goal is to create powerful, evocative images that celebrate femininity, authenticity, and the unbreakable bond of sisterhood. The inspiration for this project comes from my own sisters and close-knit friendships—women who have guided me through every stumbling block. Whenever I felt lost or overwhelmed, it was their love and strength that lifted me, and I began this journey as a tribute to them.
As the youngest of three daughters, my identity was shaped by the world my sisters created—what they wore, the music they played, and the way they moved through life. I was the “annoying” little sister, always trailing behind, but I wouldn’t trade that for anything. Sisterhood, for me, transcends blood ties. The women in my life have taught me to embrace softness, to lead with love, and to stand firm in my truth. Without their influence, I wouldn’t be half the woman I am today. This project is a reflection of their impact and the profound connections that have shaped me.
Brianna Lee, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m an artist and photographer based in Los Angeles, and my work is all about capturing energy, emotion, and authenticity. I got into photography because I’ve always been drawn to the way images tell stories—how they can freeze a feeling in time. Over the years, I’ve worked with a range of clients, from brands to artists to everyday people who just want to see themselves in a new light.
What sets me apart is my ability to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera. I want every shoot to feel effortless, like we’re just vibing, and the magic happens naturally. My goal is to create images that don’t just look good but feel real.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the trust my clients put in me. Whether it’s a brand trying to refine its visual identity or an individual stepping into their confidence, I love being part of that process. At the end of the day, I want people to walk away from my work feeling seen, inspired, and a little more in love with their own story.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of my journey as an artist is the genuine connections I make along the way. If I’m building real connections and community, the photos are just the bonus. I make it a point to get to know the person I’m photographing. Sometimes we chat on the phone, sometimes we meet up beforehand, and sometimes we just go with the flow—but most of the time, I ask them where they’d like to shoot. My work is very much led by the subject.
From the start, photography has never just been about taking pictures of people—it’s about capturing them in their most authentic light. And a lot of the time, that means photographing them in spaces that hold meaning to them. Their neighborhoods, childhood homes, family-owned restaurants, or even spots they grew up going to—these places are sacred. Being invited into those spaces is always a privilege.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
A lot of my philosophy has come from experience—learning by doing, making mistakes, and figuring out what actually works. But there have definitely been books and conversations that have shifted my perspective. I also pull a lot from art, film, and just paying attention to how people move through the world. Inspiration is everywhere if you’re looking for it.
