We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brianna Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brianna below.
Brianna , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
Me, myself is misunderstood quite often. I have many tattoos, including on my face and neck that stand out. I get asked often if I’ve ever been to jail just based on how I look. In a different breath, I get over sexualized with some model/art projects I’ve completed. My art and expression through modeling, painting, and writing are my hobbies, things that allow me to fully embody all parts of me and create art, a lot of times fail to realize that and judge me off what they see created. Many people don’t even know my day job.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Brianna, mostly known as BossBrii. I am a creative, with expression through clothes and photography. Mainly, I model, I do style, creative direct, and model coordinate as well. I’ve been modeling since 2021 with major projects with Sheetz, Miami Swim Week, and NYFW. I’ve gotten to travel to Detroit, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Orlando, Miami, Baltimore, and New York for modeling. Since I was younger I’ve been involved with mental health and athletics, I’ve since then turned that also into my business with I Am Me Lifestlye Inc. which is a holistic brand that does personal training, wellness coaching, mental health mentoring/consulting, sport performance training, and massage/preventive interventions. I am considered a technician when it comes to fundamentals of the body and helping people learn themselves mentally and physically so they can excel in athletics, and personal performance. People have made comment that my talents and ability need to be on a bigger platform. I obtained my psychology degree from Cleveland State University and my main job is an Associate Program Manager at a residential facility for at-risk youth. I will be going back to become a therapist and expand the mental health portion of my business as well.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is creating art. Listening and putting my mind in a space to understand other’s perspectives to encapsulate the vision that they have to create the art. Even when modeling isn’t editorial or commercial and is runway, walking and embracing the mission and goal of the designer/brand and executing it. I know that the creativity goes beyond me and embrace all parts of it. It feels good to see something come together or beyond even my thoughts of it.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Being an entrepreneur or attempting to be means you have to take a leap of faith, trusting that you have set yourself up, that you are capable and not let anything stop you. I remember getting ready to leave one job to dive fully into my business. I had the unsettling feeling every day at my job, I wasn’t happy and the feeling to move was heavy. I had already started my business slowly, I knew I needed to “jump off the porch” and go full in. Mind you personal training only guarantees monthly amount, not consistent money. I had to find out what my talents could provide for me to expand and be able to make more money. I was resilient and didn’t let the first two months of small money keep me, I kept going and ended up making triple what I thought I could in 3 months.
