We were lucky to catch up with Brianna Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brianna, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
So the idea behind BBRAND was just to simply provide people with the best hair that they could use over and over again (without it shedding, tangling, etc.) within a 1-3 year span. Something that would make people feel beautiful and confident. While going to school for cosmetology I started to learn how to make wigs in class. It was something that I’ve always wanted to learn, it always got me so excited and was something that I gravitated towards. For months after learning this new skill I always practiced making them, whether it was for me, a family member, or a friend I was constantly working on my craft. Close to a year later I had the idea of starting a hair brand so that when my clients came to me for a wig they could use the hair that I provided just because I knew it would be hair that was reusable and would last but most importantly look good. I went back and forth with the idea for maybe 5 or 6 months before I officially acted on it,All because I simply didn’t know where or how to start. I eventually asked 2 of my college teachers that I trusted for a little guidance and they definitely gave me a start in the right direction. For the next year (maybe 2 years) it was all trial and error. I was testing out so many vendors, spending so much money, just frustrated lol. I can remember plenty of time where I thought I had the perfect hair vendor but I would get a hold of the hair and it would be a mess so I would have to look for a new hair vendor all over again. In the the end it was all worth it because I actually did find the perfect hair vendor. When I knew I found the right one I started getting my logo made and my price list together. In 2020 I was so nervous but I went for it, I put it out and let people know what I’ve been doing and where my time, hard work and dedication has been. So far I’ve gotten a pretty good response and the brand has been slowly progressing.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
BBrand is a hair Xtension company that provides Hair Extensions, Wigs, silk edge wraps, silk bonnets, flat irons and has so much more in the works. Whether you are suffering from any hair condition or just simply want to add on to the hair that you already have we can help you in all areas, either way you will feel beautiful and confident. The thing that I (the owner) am most proud of is how far the brand has come from where it started. Progress is everything to me. There are definitely days where I have felt like the brand should’ve been further than what it is but you have to be patient and trust that everything is going to work out like it should, and it has.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
BBrand did sort of start off as a a side hustle. It started off as me making wigs for people and selling hair on the side that I knew would be reliable for people to use for years, But after so much hard work and dedication that I put into the brand I slowly started shifting into being a business owner and focusing strictly on my hair extension company. That became the main focus.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I would say word of mouth, definitely marketing myself (which is my personal favorite) I get hoodies, shirts, hats anything made with my logo on it that will catch your attention and the last one is social media for sure. Even if I don’t get as many interactions as I would like on social media I still know that people are possibly looking at what I’m doing at all times.
