We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brianna Hall a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brianna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
Before starting Mango Macros, I was determined to teach myself these strategies. Self-awareness to know the truth. Self-care to diminish self-loathing. Confidence to trust in me. Nutritional values so I can reach my optimum wellness goals. To seek the direction of my future. Self-awareness gives us power; this is something I had to teach myself before starting my practice. I spent many years of my life studying Health and Wellness. Finding what works for me. While focusing on the holistic approach. Through the trending diets and intensive working outs, I kept falling into a loophole. This hole was bottomless, overflowing with self-loathing, depression, and anxiety. Self-awareness to know the truth. Self-care to diminish self-loathing. Confidence to trust in me. And see the direction of my wellness journey. I realized during all the triumphs that I was asking myself why. Why did this not work? Why me? Why don’t I see a change? Unfortunately, asking why doesn’t lead to the truth about ourselves. Many researchers will say we can’t excavate our unconscious thoughts, feelings, and motives. While the why questions keep us trapped in that loophole, we must teach our minds to ask- what. What questions move us forward to our future? After introducing these strategies, I was ready to share my method of wellness. Growing up, my mom always said I was a social butterfly. She said I wanted to make everyone around me laugh and smile. She was right. I love making people feel happy and beautiful. I started to focus on a method to help other women and young girls become healthy and focus on their happiness. Creating their journey and directing a path to wellness is my true passion. I decided to become an integrative nutritional health coach. I had tremendous mixed feelings in the early days of starting Mango Macros. I took the first step, quitting my job waiting tables, Which felt like all I knew since 18 yrs old, was so scary. I knew if I didn’t take this step, then I wouldn’t be able to follow my true passion for Health and wellness and be able to help others. My advice is to find your first step. And to create the path you truly love. So, I quit the restaurant job. A few months ago, I made a website for clients to contact me and know my story. These strategies are so essential for us to learn. I would be a completely different person without them. A few months after that. My first magazine reached out to me. Voyage Houston, this was so exciting for me! Now here I am, a year. Of following my true passion. Things are looking great. Opportunities are endless. As a young professional. You must be able to manage your home life and your career. Sometimes, in the beginning, your job is going to make you less money to be able to manage your home life. I talked things over with my fiancé and showed him my plan. We made a time frame, and this helped us and kept us secure. I’m not saying to quit your job today. But don’t let it hold you back from following your true passion. I’ve worked very hard to get the Mango Macros name out there so I can help women
and young girls All over the world Become successful in their wellness journey. I’m so excited to continue my story and share it with others. In June 2023, I will speak at the Holistic Health and Wellness Evidence-based expo conference at The Hilton, Orlando Resort. A
dream of mine! Being picked from 500 candidates and speaking in front of excellent Health and wellness fanatics is truly a blessing. A few tips I can give would be. First, you have to be good to yourself. If you’re not happy and confident, you won’t be able to help others, which is for all fields. Set small goals that won’t be impossible to reach. Notice that you’ll get excited once you start achieving your goals. Only you will give you the confidence to keep going! Ask for help. Asking for help is probably one of the most important things you can do. Some people study just for this. For Example, becoming an integrative nutritional health coach, I was stuck at first. Where is the best place to talk to Clients and to reach out to clients? I saw this girl on Facebook; she did a remarkable job pointing me in the right direction and giving me great advice. Her career path was to help health coaches find clients. It was so simple! I hope my advice will continue to be meaningful to help others and make a change. If I were to do anything different, I wouldn’t have waited so long to follow my dreams. Start now. There’s no time like the present. Cheers to a healthier you!

Brianna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am providing total comfort for you to be yourself and let me guide you to a successful journey of overcoming some concerning habits. Most of us don’t even realize we have these bad habits. Growing up, I was used to eating pork hotdogs, sugary cereal, white bread & bologna sandwiches, and drinking lots of dairy throughout the day! Of course, being a 90s kid had a lot to do with that. We were all doing the same thing! Many things were different back then, and resources were unavailable for everyone. As an adult, we realize healthcare is so expensive! A responsible way to heal is a holistic approach! Our parents may have needed to be made aware of macronutrients and micronutrients! For example, Macro is the ample nutrient you need to energize your body, such as carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Simple carbohydrates break down rapidly, and complex carbohydrates require more time to break down fats and play an essential role in our health. As a child, I got a lot of complex carbohydrates and bad fats, known as saturated fats. Fats are primarily in dairy, oils, and animal-based foods in general.
So, finding out I was pregnant with my daughter in 2016, my first change was my health. I started to focus on how I could give this baby the most nutrients she needed and the overall wellness she required. I went to the store and bought everything organic that you can think of, from organic bananas, organic quinoa, and even organic popsicles. I was on a rave of organic food.
I wasn’t plant-based at that time. I still was so unclear about how animal-based products affected my health. Back in 2019, I decided to take the step and eliminate all Animal-base products.
I was using this as a diet, and having a completely vegan lifestyle was going to make a significant impact on my weight and maintaining my weight. Vegan made a massive difference in being able to lose weight quickly, which was what I wanted, but then I realized soon after that I was suffering, trying to eat fruits all the time to suppress my sweet tooth when I was used to eating all of the yummy foods such as ice cream, cookies, and candies. The fruits weren’t doing enough for me. I was able to stay genuinely vegan for about eight months then I decided to incorporate some seafood.
After I started incorporating seafood, my weight wasn’t fluctuating, and I began to feel more energy boost throughout my day! I was able to maintain losing 2 or 3 pounds every month, which is what I wanted. I could stay balanced. Of course, this is all just from my experience! Find the lifestyle changes that work for you. I have studied over the past four years to find what works for me.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Tennessee Williams once told us,
“There comes a time when you look into the mirror and you realize that what you see is all you’ll ever be, and then you accept it, or you kill yourself, or you stop looking in mirrors.”
Self-awareness is key to start your professional journey.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
“Embrace what you don’t know, especially in the beginning, because what you don’t know can become your greatest asset. It ensures that you will absolutely be doing things different from everybody else.”
