Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brianna Carter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brianna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
I’ve always had a passion for creating art and gifting personalized items. Over the years, I’ve drawn portraits and written poems for family and friends when I could not find a gift or when I did not have the means to purchase one. Christmas 2019 happened to be one of those instances where I did not have much set aside to buy gifts, so I decided to personalize mugs for my family instead. A few weeks later, I posted photos online of the mugs that I designed and instantly received an inquiry for three. From there, friends and family shared their ideas with me regarding personalized items they wanted to give to others. My business simply started from sharing my creative ideas and others appreciating my gift and investing in my work. Their continuous support helped me realize that what I enjoyed doing in my free time could be a worthwhile endeavor if I developed it into an actual business.
Brianna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a native of Newport, Rhode Island but I currently live in Southern California. I consider myself to be an all around creative. Most people know me as a dancer and an instructor, but I am also a singer and a published writer. I moved to California to pursue a career in entertainment, which has not been easy. Along the way, I picked up calligraphy, engraving, and pyrography, which has added another element to my creativity and services that to offer.
Through my business Briinspired Designs, I provide personalized items and a space for my clients to channel their ideas and watch them come to life. I give them the opportunity to be a part of the process, as if they are the ones designing the items by hand. I am most proud of taking the risk to build my business and working through all of the challenges and setbacks that I have experienced during this journey. My goal is to always provide quality work and to develop the ideas that my clients share with me through my gift and love of art.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The mission driving my creative journey is to be a source of inspiration and encouragement for others. Sometimes it is the little things that make the most impact on a person’s life. A smile, a hello, a compliment, or a small token of appreciation goes a long way. My art, whether it is through music, poetry, or calligraphy, are physical representations of the love, care, and support that I show others. I hope in some way that these things help bring them to a place of peace and comfort in their own journeys. I do my best to show up the same way no matter where I am and always strive to provide the same level of care and service for each job or project that I am working on. The goal is to always make others feel seen and heard, even if it is just through the gift of art.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is experiencing the growth and healing that manifests through your art. Your personal and professional growth develops as you navigate spaces that you have been challenged to explore. The healing comes from the release of fear and freedom of expression. The bonus is what you have to offer is not only helping you, it is also evoking change and inspiration in others.
