Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brianna Breshears. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brianna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I love to shop, and had always dreamed of owning a Real Deals store. (Home decor, candles, clothing) I also when traveling will try and find the cutest general stores. So I got to thinking I love meeting new people, traveling, and supporting small businesses. With that I came up with Fencepost. A business that accompanies many other small businesses into one. When I pick my inventory I try to support the locals by having their items in my store as well as include them when I have events and markets. Nothing I love more than a small business and being one along side all of the others is so rewarding.

Brianna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
About 5 years ago I started making earrings, with the dream in mind of owning a store similar to real deals floating around. I graduated with my bachelors degree in early education in 2020 and decided it wasn’t something I wanted to pursue. While I nannied I really thought how can I be my own boss, how I can get that dream store. Fast forward to 2021 I decided to invest $500 into farmhouse decor and candles along with my handmade earrings. Since then I have partnered up with other small businesses by carrying their products in my store. I love being self motivated, coming up with ideas, building displays, signing up for rodeos nor markets all around Oregon – I LITERALLY thrive off of it.
Since 2021 I’ve went from online to online and a storefront, to traveling, online and opening the store every now and then. To now almost doing fencepost full time, putting on over 50 events and attending over 100 markets since 2021.
My hope by September is to full time be running Fencepost online, the store front and traveling. I have a major itch to move to Eastern Oregon so that is on my check list next of goals.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
You have to do it for yourself and no one else. You can’t care what others with think, say or do.
You’re in this business for yourself to grow and build your dream. No one can stop you from doing that other than yourself.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
In 2021 I took $500 out of my savings from nannying all these years and spent it on merchandise, as soon as I made back my $500 I then bought more product since then I have been nothing but cash flow with my business.
