We were lucky to catch up with Briana Zamora recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Briana, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I bugged my husband for a camera for the longest because my phone was always running out of space for all the pictures i would take of my kids , when I finally got my camera i was happy its like opening a new Christmas toy you been wanting for the longest and now you finally got it and you want to keep using it . i also realize right away i had to learn about it because its not like a phone camera you just open app and take the picture , I hade to learn the difference mode to see what worked for me i ended up using Manual mode i like being able to be in control of light and color of my pictures my kids did not always want to be poses for me which is fine but now i had got invested on wanting to become a photographer i needed models to practice i send a few people messages and started practicing on poses , my settings , my editing ones i knew i had it i started working on building my portfolio.
Briana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Briana Zamora i am the owner of Bri’s Photography, Born & Raised in Austin TX , currently located in Del Valle Tx & Travel for outdoors photography. I am 25 Years old Married & Mom of 2 Kids , i am a homeschooling mom and a dog mom . I love being a mom and i found my love to photography from my kids and i also learn it was a way i could show more of me and what interest me .it was a form of peace from everything else going around me and it maid me happy . I love to be a photographer that provides it all from Outdoors photography to Studio Photography. I love showing my work from my edits as-well as in my studio set ups. I love talking and getting to know my clients when i first started photography i had just moved to Del Valle Tx & knew no one i also had no friends being a mom its easy for people to forget about you and for you to get busy and forget about others as well i needed to learn my camera and how to communicate again . i have built my business out of practice and great costumer service , making my clients happy and just being able to provide it all on my session its what has build my business up.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
At every studio session i put my work into my set ups , from cake smash , to my Christmas family session i make you feel welcome while at my studio and i provide great photos , when i am doing outdoor photography i make you feel like we knew each other since way before i make sure your babies are happy and we get some great photos even when babies don’t want anything to do with pictures this all has helped me built my audience from just constantly giving great service, as-well as being able to do it all also here is some advise i have done to help as-well. Post something anything related to your work on those slow days even if its a session you did way before (people see , people talk , and when someone is ready or need you they will book , you never know whose social media you might pop up on in that one slow day) do free mini session with family & friends don’t be discouraged when people say no one day they might need a photographer and send you a text. let everyone know about your business get the word out in your neighborhood at work etc. Print cards and leave them wherever you go .
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to do it as long as it makes me and my kids happy as-well as other happy with my work, i love having the extra money to use to keep homeschooling , to use on our trips and be able to help with stuff we need in our home .
