We were lucky to catch up with Briana White recently and have shared our conversation below.
Briana, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I learned to write through a combination of reading, personal experience, and consistent practice. Writing became an outlet for me to express emotions, tell stories, and connect with others. Over time, I studied different writing styles, challenged myself with new projects, and learned from both my successes and mistakes.
Looking back, I would have sought mentorship earlier and spent more time learning the business side of publishing. The most essential skills have been creativity, discipline, communication, and empathy. Creativity helps bring ideas to life, discipline keeps projects moving forward, communication strengthens storytelling, and empathy allows me to connect with readers on a deeper level.
One of the biggest obstacles was self-doubt. There were times when I questioned my abilities or compared my journey to others. Finding the balance between writing, work, and personal responsibilities was also challenging. However, each obstacle taught me resilience and helped shape me into a stronger writer.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Briana White born and raised in Dallas, TX. I am an author, poet, and storyteller with a passion for creating meaningful and impactful work. I’ve always loved writing, and what started as a creative outlet eventually became a platform to inspire, encourage, and connect with others through storytelling.
I write in several genres, including drama, romance, thriller, and poetry, but I am especially passionate about projects that promote healing and self-reflection. One of my current projects, *Dear Diary*, is a collaborative nonfiction book that gives people an opportunity to share personal stories about grief, trauma, relationships, and overcoming life’s challenges.
What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity. I believe stories have the power to heal, and I strive to create work that helps people feel seen, heard, and understood. Whether through fiction, poetry, or real-life experiences, my goal is to connect with readers on a deeper level.
What I am most proud of is using my platform to give others a voice and create opportunities for meaningful conversations. I want readers and supporters to know that my work is about more than entertainment—it’s about inspiration, healing, and reminding people that their stories matter.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
One of the biggest goals driving my creative journey is building a community through literature and creating opportunities for authors, artists, and readers to connect. This year, I’m especially excited because I’m working toward hosting my very first in-home book fair and spoken word competition in Dallas, Texas, which will also serve as a celebration of my 30th birthday.
The event is scheduled for December 13th of 2026. It represents more than just a personal milestone, it’s a chance to bring people together through books, poetry, creativity, and meaningful conversations. My mission has always been to use storytelling to inspire, heal, and give people a platform to share their voices, and this event is an extension of that vision.
I hope the book fair will be the first of many successful literary events, and I’m currently seeking supporters, vendors, authors, poets, and community members who would like to help make it a memorable experience. My goal is to create an atmosphere where creativity is celebrated, connections are made, and people leave feeling inspired.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that illustrates my resilience is my journey as a writer itself. There were many moments when I questioned whether my voice mattered or whether my work would ever reach the people it was intended for. Like many creatives, I faced self-doubt, financial limitations, and the challenge of balancing my passion with everyday responsibilities.
Instead of giving up, I continued writing. I learned to view obstacles as part of the process rather than a sign to quit. Each setback strengthened my determination to keep creating and sharing stories that could inspire others.
That resilience ultimately led me to pursue projects that are deeply meaningful to me, including *Dear Diary*, a collaborative book that provides people with a safe space to share their personal experiences and healing journeys. Seeing others find the courage to tell their stories reminds me why I never gave up on mine.
My journey has taught me that resilience isn’t about never struggling—it’s about continuing to move forward even when the path is uncertain. Every challenge I’ve faced has shaped me into a stronger writer, a stronger leader, and a stronger woman.
