It is easily the element that collectively propels us the most!
Briana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Briana Silvio, I live in Cape Cod MA where I reside with my husband Billy and have a beautiful 5-year-old daughter, Aria Pearl. I have a personal passion for creating and following systems, operations, and community involvement. Being raised on a farm in Maine instilled the “boot strap” work ethic in me at a very young age. Early mornings, late evenings, hauling gear, setups, breakdowns, managing a Team, scheduling, correspondence… the list goes on. The life of a small business owner is no easy task and I do believe I’m right the person for the job.
In 2023 we elevated over 350 events, worked in 5 states, donated over $30,000 to local schools and nonprofits, grew our Team by 2 additional full-time employees, hosted employment for 2 interns from Cape Organization for the Rights of the Disabled, and I was a recipient of the 40 Under 40 Award from Cape & Plymouth Business Media! I sit on the board for our town’s Chamber of Commerce and Chair the events committee, I am on the board for the Region’s Chamber of Commerce and a part of the Wedding Group, I am a member of ILEA, and have established a private collaborative group of industry professionals in New England who meet and discuss their wins, losses, challenges, and solutions. We serve as a support system for each other in the niche professional balloon artist arena.
The past 4 years has heavily impacted my personal and professional mission in my daily life. I’ve been finding ways to selflessly add value to my family, community, friendships, and to become a person I could truly be proud of. I’m more “Bri” than ever before and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to give beyond my wildest dreams. My mission is to never chase success but do all things with passion and purpose. So far, it’s been an awesome journey!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In February of 2020 I left my job in the Financial Planning world to pursue a small rental business and take on Corporate Event planning which I referred to as “Vibe Curation”. Two weeks after leaving my job, Covid hit and my business plan was decimated. After spending some time inside the house doing our part to “flatten the curve, the emails of cancelled and postponed events began rolling in. I was genuinely overcome with sadness and humbled – as a new business owner I didn’t have any type of backup plan and had committed to my family I had a 3-month forecast for income. Most profoundly, all celebrations were cancelled.
Birthday parties, baby showers, corporate launches, weddings, bridal showers- cancelled. My heart hurt thinking of the individuals who wouldn’t be able to gather with friends, family, colleagues to share joy, smiles, and laughter.
I reminded myself I started a business based on the foundation of spreading happiness and creativity and set out to find a way to help others celebrate while the world recoiled in fear. This is where “Bags of Sunshine” came to light. Very simply, I filled large plastic bags from the Dollar Store with balloons, requested a $25 donation for each Bag of Sunshine, and 100% of the proceeds were used to purchase meals, coffee, and donuts for the dedicated staff at Cape Cod Hospital. I was merely a conduit between the community and the selfless staff who dedicated their lives to keeping us healthy.
Each bag I delivered had a tag, “Share your Smiles with us on Instagram, tag @elevatedimpressionsma”. Before I knew it, word had spread about the Bags of Sunshine and the bulk of the deliveries I completed were to the residences of hospital employees who were sending the bags to their children whom they couldn’t have contact with. While delivering, I saw brave individuals sleeping in garages, sheds, and on sun porches to protect their families from potential infections. This small act of delivering a bag of balloons allowed some people to smile and find a moment of happiness at an uncertain time and unexpectedly created a social media marketing blitz.
Thus, my joyful relationship with balloons came to life and I began making and selling small arrangements from the basement of my home. The business scaled naturally and I followed it’s lead, growing faster and larger than I had ever anticipated possible!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Honesty, Integrity, Reliability, and Humility are super powers
