Hi Briana, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
When it comes to taking an idea from conception to execution, the process can vary depending on the scope of the project. Generally, it involves planning, research, design, testing, and implementation. First, the idea needs to be fleshed out and evaluated for feasibility. My idea of starting a satin-based brand came to me at times of boredom and depression during the Pandemic lockdown. I wanted to make a bonnet that ensured the promotion of healthy hair growth, through the proper protection of my hair. Next, the necessary research should be done to understand the context and the potential challenges that could arise when starting a business. After hours and hours of research on how to start a business, I came to the conclusion that the only way to become successful, is through applied learning and growth. If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never start. Next, the design should be developed, including the architecture and specifics of the project. After that, it is important to test the project thoroughly and make any necessary adjustments or improvements. As my business began to grow, I would ask each customer for their honest feedback and would improve on the areas that needed to be worked on. As a business owner, it is imperative that you receive and takes into consideration both good and bad feedback, to improve not only your business but yourself.

There is no one definition of a strong black woman. Everyone has their own unique strengths, abilities, and experiences that make them the powerful individual that they are. However, some traits that are often attributed to strong black women include a fierce determination and resilience to overcome obstacles, an unwavering commitment to their values and beliefs, an ability to take action and inspire others, and a passion for making a positive impact on the world. I am most proud of my commitment to providing excellent customer service and creating custom solutions to meet the needs of my customers in regard to promoting healthy hair growth. I strive to provide a personal touch to everything I do, and I am always looking for ways to improve the customer experience. I want my potential customers to know that I am reliable and responsive, and I am always striving to provide the best possible product that can provide a solution to their problems. I am also proud of my ability to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions that meet the needs of my customers.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the idea that being perfect was the goal. Growing up, I was a perfectionist, feeling that everything I did had to be perfect in order for it to be accepted. But as I got older, I realized that striving for perfection can actually be a hindrance to progress and personal growth. I now strive for excellence instead, understanding that mistakes are a part of learning and growing.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Building an audience on social media is a process that takes time and dedication. It’s important to create content that your target audience can relate to and engage with. Start by researching what type of content is popular in your industry. Then, create content that is interesting, informative, and engaging. Additionally, use different platforms to reach out to people who may be interested in what you have to offer. Engage with other content creators in your space, comment on their posts, and build relationships. Lastly, don’t be afraid to experiment and be creative! You never know what kind of content will resonate with your audience, so try different things and see what works. Furthermore, the most effective strategy I have used for growing my clientele is to focus on providing outstanding customer service. I always strive to exceed my customers’ expectations and ensure that they have a great experience with my business. I also make sure to keep up with digital marketing trends, such as using social media to reach new clients. Additionally, I always look for ways to network with potential customers and partners to create more opportunities for business growth.
