We were lucky to catch up with Briana McGee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Briana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
The biggest things my parents did right as a child was allow me to always do what I wanted! I was never afraid to make my own decision weather those were good or day decisions. I’ve always been okay with the outcome of my decision because it’s what i wanted to do. I think allowing your child to be who they are and also creates a sense of individuality.
Briana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Britha$tylist, I got in the industry about 3 years ago as an assistant/intern. Being in the space of creatives and experiencing the individuality of each creative was inspiring simply because everyone was different.Honestly, I never dreamed to be a wardrobe stylist I just kind of became one based off of the way I dressed as a youngin. People always asked me for fashion advice or to pick out their clothes and I was doing it for free cause it was so easy for me then I realized I could be make money off of it and the rest is history.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is being able to express myself through clothes! I wake up and I get dressed based off how I’m feeling that day and I think that when I create dope ass prices.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Earlier in my creative journey I thought social media was everything then I soon realized relationship were . So I leveraged social media to network and meet up with different creatives in my area to collaborate or pick their brain about the different avenues in the industry.
