Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Briana Lee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Briana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
My parents are my inspiration because they both taught me in so much in different ways. I feel that their work ethic in both corporate and entrepreneurial settings were essential to my career.
My mother is a dedicated, hard worker who climbed up the corporate ladder through continuous learning. She worked at various prestigious places from Harvard Law School to Lesley University where she retired as an HR Coordinator. She is soft spoken yet very knowledgeable and articulate. She knew how to handle some of the most challenging situations while remaining poised and gracious. Not only is she an amazing liaison, but she truly is a phenomenal woman.
My father was an extraordinary entrepreneur who loved his community and gave back anyway he could. Even when he had less he always strived to do more. He called himself the common man because of the way he could relate to different groups of people. He truly made a way out of no way and was a visionary. Before he passed in 2006, he created a company called Indigo Productions which consists of pretty much everything I do today. So my work is dedicated to him in honor of his life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Briana Lee and I am the owner and designer of a brand called LoveCashionista. LoveCashionista is a one of a kind brand based in Boston, MA that specializes in physical and digital art, fashion design and photography.
My work has been recognized at various exhibitions and featured in major publications worldwide. I also continuously work to develop, evolve and expand through the mission of finding beauty in the struggle, turning pain into power through art.
I want my clients to know that I truly love what I do. Seeing people acknowledging my work and wearing my pieces is what makes me happiest.
What sets me apart is I strive to create pieces whether accessories or art, that are unique and meaningful. Everything is still made by hand directly from me which I feel makes it more special.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My business started in the midst of the pandemic and from then to now, I feel resilience is what has made my business sustain.
My resilience and resourcefulness is how I have adapted to some of the most difficult times, especially this year. In the beginning, I faced many challenges both personally and professionally. I had so much work against me but still kept going.
I just moved, had fibroid removal surgery, had no job and got into a major car accident. All of these things affected my business in so many ways, from cancelled fashion shows to not having store placement. This was very hurtful and embarrassing for me. It made me question if I should even continue with my business.
I was at one of my lowest points physically, emotionally and financially. But resilience is what pushed me to keep going even at times where I felt like giving up. I was able to do everything I wanted and way more which I’m so grateful. Now looking back, I know overcoming my struggles is what fueled my most successful year.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media is something that I love and ironically dislike at times, but I know it is necessary. It fascinates me on how powerful and impactful it is.
I think what has helped my presence is my consistency and not changing who I am. I’ve learned that even when you feel like people aren’t engaging, they are always watching. So I’m learning to use it in my favor instead of getting frustrated by it.
It’s also great to find people that want to work with you because collaboration is important. I have found so many amazing individuals and opportunities online that really inspire me and vice versa. Your phone and social media is one of the greatest tools for your success.
