We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Briana Hamilton a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Briana, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk about innovation. What’s the most innovative thing you’ve done in your career?
Innovation can be defined as the process of introducing a new idea that brings significant positive impact and value. When launching Sacred Writings Clothing Co, I aimed to prioritize to stay sacred (staying connected to God) , positivity, encouragement, and impact. Thus, I conceptualized The Hoodie of the Year Collection , offering an exclusive hoodie annually to inspire individuals throughout the year. Rooted in faith, each hoodie features a scripture to instill hope, faith, and belief in the impossible.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Briana, and I’m the owner/creator of Sacred Writings Clothing Co. I found my way into the apparel industry after being furloughed from my job during the pandemic. With a background in graphic design and marking, I freelanced for small businesses to make ends meet but the desire to create something of my own lingered. Despite the fear of starting my brand my amazing friends and supportive family encouraged me to believe. Thus, Sacred Writings Clothing was born. We provide premium quality items to incorporate with your daily wardrobe with a simple reminder to Stay Sacred (stay connected to God). Sacred Writings Clothing Co, is a brand that pays attention to details. Providing a variety of collections, and creative design that will draw you to want to know more about God, encourage you in daily walk, and want to embody the Sacred Writings.
I’m incredibly proud of our original collection, The Jesus Walks Collection, which beautifully portrays Jesus’s journey from birth to Crucifixion. Designing this collection was not only about sparking conversations but also about marveling at Jesus’s journey. Additionally, I take great joy in being the creator and filmmaker behind all our promotional content for new drops. Sharing the story behind the design(s) , the scripture(s), and offering encouragement to our viewers/followers has been the most fulling aspect of my work.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’m still building my social media followers everyday. But I started by having my friends repost and share the brands profile. Additionally, when customers purchased something,I asked them to post a picture with the product, which we would then repost. By our customers doing, it brings awareness to their followers about our brand. Another strategy was to follow influencers in my niche and send them free merchandise. This approach has been beneficial, as some influencers repost without tagging the brand but it still serves as proof of their endorsement. This genuine promotion helps integrate my brand into their everyday wardrobe rather than just being a paid advertisement,
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most successful method of expanding my clientele has been through visibility. By hosting pop-ups and participating in different events, whether by donating merchandise or being a vendor. I’ve been able to engage with customers directly. This allows them to experience the quality of the brand firsthand and gives them the opportunity to meet me in person and ask any questions they have about the brand.
