We recently connected with Briana Drapp and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Briana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Really what it takes to be successful is to be okay with delayed gratification, keep a narrow focus while limiting distractions, and having a group of people who love, support and cheer for you.
I developed this view when I decided that I wanted to help physical therapist assistant students pass the licensure exam. I have really niche down on this community which has allowed me to serve them at the highest level. Also, I’ve noticed with every successful experience I’ve had in the past, they’ve all came to fruition because I was focused and limited distractions/excuses. if you want to be the best, you have to lock down what you want to do. You also have to stay out of your own head.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I own a business called PTA Elevation, LLC, which is a business that helps physical therapist assistant students pass the national board exam. I created this because many businesses out there who do exam prep for physical therapist will often create physical therapist, assistant programs, however I noticed that a lot of the material they were teaching was over, teaching for physical therapist assistants, so I decided to create a business that would address the deficit. I help student specifically by simplifying the information that appears on the exam and helping them learn and remember it in a way where they can retain the information and do well on their next subsequent attempt. I specialize in helping students change their mindset and their approach to the exam in order to help them become successful in their next attempt and pass. I also specifically help students who have failed on multiple attempts, or may even be on their last attempt in their state. I am most proud of the community I have built within my brand, which is one where are my clients support uplift and cheer for each other and learn how to celebrate their own wins and accomplishments.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I began to post daily questions on my instagram story to help get more interaction, then people look forward to clicking my question of the day and they will see the other items I have to offer on my story when I post. I also would put out weekly or biweekly YouTube videos or podcast episodes to help serve my audience for free. I also just made sure to keep going live and posting as much as I could in order to most effectively serve my audience.
My advice for those starting out is don’t just give up right away, it took me 4 months of posting for me to earn a single dollar. It will be worth it in the end!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I basically am the kind of person that said “Don’t like how your professors taught you? Was it too formal with too many complex topics? Do you want someone real to give you the scoop of what you really need to know with no BS? That’s me!” I try to keep it as real as possible, and within my legal rights. However, the brand I have created for myself is one of “cool aunt that knows how to help you pass” and cutting out all the academia from my reputation. I also have made sure to offer TONS of free content, because I know not everyone can afford my course but I want to be able to help as many people as possible pass this exam!
