We were lucky to catch up with Briana Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Briana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?

I had a dream and a vision. I have always had a passion for design, color schemes and of course decor! However, I started the process of launching my event design business in 2020. Prior to my launch I started by doing tons of research. I spent a good four to five months just researching and learning the event industry! The ups and downs and the pros and cons. I studied the market, learned how to appeal to my target audience and searched for top vendors to create a top notch vendor list! I registered my LLC & EIN & it was showtime!

My main goal was to launch a business that could have exponential growth! I wanted to launch a perfectly crafted business that displayed passion and professionalism. I started by investing in the most important things. My website! I worked with an amazing web designer that truly brought my website vision to life! The number one compliment I receive from clients is how my website stood out to them, or how they loved the website. I began to market myself, work hard and really build my brand up!

Like any business running an event planning business has its up and downs. Especially through a world wide pandemic. I always remained optimistic, faithful and driven even through the hardships. Every year the business grows. From 2020 to now our clientele has almost tripled. I have created an amazing, loyal and hardworking team and I can’t wait to see what else God has in store for Events by BrieMonayy!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Events by BrieMonayy is a luxury event designing company that is built on a passion for decor. We are a one stop shop, providing all decor & event additives for your event! Our clients sit and relax while we do all the planning! We specialize in all events. Personal, social and wedding events!

Any fun sales or marketing stories?

In this industry marketing is so important! To stand out you just market yourself 110%! In my first year, towards the end I really learned the key things to be successful in marketing. Google is my main reference source and of course word of mouth! I learned that Google Ads and Social media ads are very essential. Once I consistently started to market and use Ads to my advantage I saw an instant increase in business growth!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

There is a lot of trial and error and as well as having to maintain consistency when running a business. In 2021 I had my second pregnancy it was a very rough pregnancy. I was diagnosed with Hypermesis Gravadarium & had Extreme sciatica . Hypermesis Gravadarium is an extreme sickness during pregnancy. It usually will last for the first trimester but for me it lasted my entire pregnancy. I would throw up 5-8 times a day. I could not even hold down water. I was constantly exhausted, faint and ill. I would constantly pass out due to lack of hydration. Because of this I was placed on bed rest for most of my pregnancy which prohibited me from being able to really work and take on clients. It made it very hard because I was consistently being able to display content from all of my events and suddenly had to come to a stop. Because of this I had to pivot. I began to start marketing to get clients for the future once my pregnancy was over! I was able to be fully booked the first three months of me returning to work and it was a domino effect after that. The entire year booked up! During this time I learned to have faith and to keep pushing! My fear was with 5 months off from working my momentum would go down. But me staying true to my business it was the complete opposite!
