We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Briana Beaty a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Briana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
I studied Hospitality Management and Marketing at The University of Florida. My first job post graduation was at the Shore Club in Miami Beach. My boss Matthew and the owner Ian always wanted you to think in terms of the guest experience. I still think of that. What is it that moms need? How can Palm Beach Moms best serve our local and visiting moms? How can we save them time and bring joy? If you keep that mindset of service/guest experience to your customer (and employees) in the forefront you’ll always be on the right track.

Briana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello! I am Briana Beaty – chief mom in charge at Palm Beach Moms. I LOVE my job. The seeds for this career happened when I was expecting my first daughter. The Palm Beach Moms started as a closed Facebook group in 2007, Palm Beach Mommas. Instead of texting at 3am the group of fellow new moms we could silently post questions. “Has anyone else ever…” “Will I ever sleep again?” “What questions should I ask when interviewing a nanny?” “I have baby items to donate, where can I drop them” “Do you need a Nanny, message me I have a great one.” Much like the hungry caterpillar it grew and grew so rules had to be laid out. No advertising, fundraising, events, promotions, selling of any kind – despite the many requests. To this day it remains a private haven for over 10,000 local moms to seek comfort, support, and advise.
Much like the caterpillar, we moved from our cozy little cocoon to this more public and available platform. The butterfly result is a website with a blog, public social media and partnership with brands we trust.
My husband and I love raising our children in The Palm Beaches. I have a degree in Hospitality Management and Marketing from the University of Florida. Before becoming a Palm Beach Mom I had a career in the hospitality and marketing space in South Florida. That spirit of service in hospitality guides me as a I serve this community. I love supporting parents. That is what I am most proud of and what keeps me going.
We’d appreciate any insights you can share with us about selling a business.
My first company – Flavor Palm Beach(the restaurant month for the Palm Beaches) – just went to it’s new owner last year. Selling that labor of love after 13 years was gut wrenching. Deciding to let it go to allow more space for my family and Palm Beach Moms was done after several years of humming and hawing.
The basis for my reluctance was that no one would serve Flavor Palm Beach with as much love as me.
Then, the perfect next leader expressed an interest. She was familiar with the company and had the skills and connections to take it to the next level. I look forward to my first September in 14 years as a Flavor Palm Beach fan knowing it is in great hands.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social media is a big deal today. Having your customers stop their scroll translates into dollars. So how do you grow that audience? For Palm Beach Moms, this means producing content that local moms are interested in. I also make a point to follow and interact with companies that align with us.
Being authentic in online interactions shines through!
