We recently connected with Briana “Beatrixz” Spikes and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Briana “Beatrixz”, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
During COVID 19, I realized how important self care is and how little dots taken seriously. I found that, More than half of the American population is stressed and feel guilty about taking time for themselves; therefore, they minimize self-care and multitask through it, especially Women. 39% of men say they consistently make time for self-care while only 32% of women do. 56% of women tend to feel burnt out quite often, compared to 51% of men.
Almost half (40%) of the population feel they rarely have time for themselves each day.
(67%) of people in America constantly put others ahead of themselves; and (33%) percent feel guilty about taking time for themselves, with women feeling guiltier than men (37% vs. 30%). My idea sought to change this. My Solution Statement: Gemell Box is a product sold under the Figure88 platform for WOMEN that increases mental, physical, and emotional well-being from 0 to 5 by offering automatic deliveries of homemade self care products; all for a $25 monthly subscription!!!! I hoped to get women excited about self care & skincare!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Tagline- “ENTERTAIN. INSPIRE. EDUCATE. Where creativity is made mogul.”

I make everything from Candles, Bath Bomb, Bath Steamers, and Sugar Scrubs, to Hemp products, Body Oils, Lotion Bars, Body Butter Cream and resin artwork for aesthetic spaces. I hope to expand my product line for men’s skincare as well. I also hope to streamline my brand with Target in the future.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
We I completely rebranded and pivoted my business in February, I had an investor. We decided to prepare for a big vendor event in July and agreed that he’d provide all startup funds. A few months prior to the event, he disappeared. I had to go into hustle mode. I did everything I could to pay for labels, materials, packaging, etc. all out of pocket. I even stayed up 48 hours straight making products by hand before the event. Finally made it to the event and didn’t even make back the money spent for the vendor table. I was so discouraged and had to take a step back to better plan and prepare for summer events in 2023.
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
Yes, I make all my products by hand. It’s extremely hard work and took a lot of research because of the types of products I make. I definitely had to brush up on my science! I’m still learning and researching ways to scale and find manufacturers to make products for me.
