We recently connected with Briana and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Briana, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The first risk I took was going the unconventional route of getting my esthetic license. Taking a leap of faith & showing up every day even when It was hard and when I was going through a tough time in my personal life. The second risk I took was becoming a solo esthetician and working for myself. Trusting in myself & taking that Jump. It’s scary to take that risk, wondering if you’re going to fail or not be good enough, but once you do, there’s nothing left to do but keep going and pushing yourself. A positive mindset, always looking on the bright side of things has been the key to keep going and not giving up on myself and my dreams. I’m going on my second year of operation now and loving it, though I am always looking to improve and grow in anyway I can.

Briana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into this industry because I love to make people feel good. I love seeing their stress dissolve after leaving my treatment room. It’s the best feeling in the world. For my facials I focus on applying the right pressure & massaging the face, hands, arms and upper body. For my waxes I create a comfortable & welcoming environment and make my waxes as quick and gentle as possible. For my other spa services like the Lash Lift and Tint or the Brow Lamination and Tint; I create a relaxing environment, always making my guest as comfortable as possible with a memory foam mattress top and heated bed pad, dimmed colorful light’s & their choice of music.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
The most important thing is your attitude and how you make your guests feel. Having a positive and welcoming attitude is the key to success.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Your work & word of mouth. Make some business cards and promote yourself as much as possible!
