We were lucky to catch up with Brian Villanueva recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success in business, especially in manufacturing, requires a combination of grit, resilience and the ability to learn from your mistakes. I believe that achieving success is deeply tied to adaptability and continuously growing from the challenges you face. One experience that shaped this view happened early on when Seamless Manufacturing was still building its reputation. We took on a large order without a physical prototype, relying solely on sample images. While the client initially approved the design, they were ultimately dissatisfied with the final product, leading to an $80K loss. It was a tough lesson in communication, expectation management and the importance of validating every step before scaling up production.
This incident taught me that no matter how prepared you think you are, challenges will arise. However, rather than letting those setbacks define you, they should serve as opportunities for growth. It’s through these moments that I’ve learned how crucial it is to be transparent with clients, manage expectations carefully and ensure that every detail is addressed upfront.
Beyond learning from mistakes, resilience plays a huge role in success. Every business will face highs and lows, but it’s how you respond to those lows that matters most; at least that’s what I believe. I’ve always made it a point to stay focused on the positives and not let setbacks derail my vision. This mindset has been key to Seamless Manufacturing’s continued growth and success.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Brian Villanueva and I’m the founder and CEO of Seamless Manufacturing — a company based in Riverside, CA that specializes in custom screen printing, sublimation and embroidery. Our mission is to deliver high-quality apparel that helps businesses and organizations across industries—whether in fitness, entertainment or local enterprises—elevate their brand presence through creative, custom-designed clothing. We strive to be a key partner in bringing their vision to life with every piece we create.
I got into this industry out of a passion for both creativity and entrepreneurship. Before starting Seamless Manufacturing in 2015, I worked full-time in the plumbing industry, but I always knew I wanted more—something that allowed me to combine my artistic side with the ability to build meaningful, long-term relationships. I saw an opportunity in apparel manufacturing to do just that. The idea of bringing someone’s vision to life on high-quality products sparked something in me; that’s when Seamless Manufacturing was born. I’m proud to say that nearly a decade later, we’ve continued to expand and help brands tell their stories through their clothing.
At Seamless, we solve a variety of problems for our clients—whether it’s helping a brand create cohesive team apparel, supplying gyms with custom merchandise or assisting entertainment companies in bringing a creative vision to life. One of the biggest challenges we address is making sure our clients’ ideas translate perfectly from concept to final product. Our detailed design process and focus on client communication ensure that we’re always on the same page, avoiding the costly missteps that can come with mass production. We offer our expertise in every step of the process, from graphic design to fabric selection, and we make sure that the final product exceeds expectations in quality and detail.
What sets us apart is not only our attention to detail but also the relationships we build with our clients. We don’t just create products; we create lasting partnerships. We take the time to understand our clients’ needs and goals, making sure that every order aligns with their brand identity and messaging. I’m particularly proud of how we’ve been able to grow without losing that personal touch—whether it’s a small local business or a celebrity, we treat every client with the same level of care and attention.
For potential clients and followers, the main thing I want you to know is that Seamless Manufacturing is all about quality, creativity and relationships. We’re not just here to print shirts; we’re here to help you tell your story through premium, custom-designed apparel that you’ll be proud to wear. Our work isn’t just about the products; it’s about the value we bring to your brand and the trust we build with every project.

Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the biggest pivots for Seamless Manufacturing came during the pandemic. When COVID-19 hit, many businesses were panicking, scaling back or even closing their doors. While it was a period of uncertainty for everyone, I saw it as an opportunity to adapt and continue growing.
At a time when PPE was in high demand, we pivoted our operations to start producing masks. We quickly shifted our operations to start producing masks, which allowed us to become an essential business and continue operating when many others couldn’t. This pivot not only kept our doors open, but we went on to produce and sell over 100,000 units of masks. While other companies were letting employees go, we were able to keep our entire team intact and even ramp up our operations.
At the same time, we heavily focused on scaling our digital marketing efforts. We increased our online presence, produced more content and connected with customers through digital channels. This shift in focus not only kept us stable during uncertain times but positioned us for growth.
Resilience was key during that period. The pandemic taught us that by staying adaptable and proactive, even the most difficult circumstances can turn into opportunities for innovation and success. It was a defining moment that reinforced the importance of quick thinking and strategic pivots in business.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A major lesson I had to unlearn was thinking I could manage everything myself. When I first started Seamless Manufacturing, I wanted to have a personal touch on every aspect of the business—from scaling operations, training my team, and running our social content to even keeping track of my own accounting. I believed that being hands-on with everything was the best way to ensure success.
But as the business grew, I quickly realized that trying to do it all on my own was not sustainable. I was stretched too thin, and it was impossible to maintain my focus on the bigger picture while being involved in every detail. I had to unlearn the idea that I needed to depend solely on myself to get things done and instead learn to trust the right people to take on those responsibilities.
Delegating tasks and trusting my team was a crucial turning point. It allowed me to focus on the broader vision for Seamless Manufacturing while still keeping a pulse on all areas of the business through clear oversight. Letting go of the need to control every part of the process has had a huge positive impact, not only on the efficiency of the company but also on my ability to continue driving growth. It was a powerful shift that taught me the importance of building a capable team and empowering them to help drive the business forward.
