We were lucky to catch up with Brian Victor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brian, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
I worked at Family Court in San Diego for over 11 years providing child custody mediation sessions. I’m a big believer in mediation since it allows parents to decide their parenting plan before it is recommended by a third-party to a judge. I also help prepare individuals for their Family Court Services child custody session based upon my first-hand knowledge of the process.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a divorce and child custody attorney and mediator here in San Diego. I treat all of my clients with the respect they deserve. I understand the stress that is involved in divorce and child custody matters since I am also a licensed marriage family therapist. I help provide mediation services for clients who want to determine how to divide assets and debts in their divorce and how to create a parenting plan in their child custody matter. Too many attorneys focus only on litigation rather than helping their clients resolve their issues via mediation if possible.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best new clients for me are people who are looking to mediate their divorce or child custody case. These are people who do not want to litigate their matter. Also, I always appreciate attorneys who refer their clients to me for Family Court Services preparation.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first started my law practice, I was doing mostly court litigation for divorce and child custody cases. I have found there are a lot of people who do not want to litigate their divorce matter so I have been doing a lot more mediation to help people who do not want to litigate their divorce.
